A Pillar Seal Install

Good evening. I need to replace my A Pillar seals. Can someone supply step by step instructions on how to replace them please? I am nervous that I don't make a bad situation worse. Thanks in advance. Rizla.

The route I followed....

1. Trailer car to Paul Mattys
2. Leave with them for 2 days (overnight allows silicone stuff to go off properly)
3. Pay dosh
4. Take car home

No mess, no fuss, no regrets!

To be fair, although they fitted the seals beautifully to the A pillars first go, they didn't ensure that they were positioned such that the side window glass would make contact (ie no "seal"). But having taken the car back for a rerun of 1 to 4 above, that has all been sorted at no extra charge and I am a very happy bunny. With the Rangey off the road, I've been commuting daily up to my sisters in the M100 (85 miles each way mainly M5) in all the torrential rain we've been having of late...and no wet leg! Amazing!

Hi there, thanks - but although I applied I cannot access the manuals area as yet. As for Paul Matty, well I would love to afford the time (and money) but simply cannot at the moment as I have had to pay for a lot of mechanical issues (cambelt, water pump, clutch cable) this month and I am a little brassic! However GST has ordered me a pair of seals and I thought I'd have a go myself. I understand it is relatively easy but I would have liked a step by step by someone who has attempted the exercise before so I can know all the pitfalls before I start. Also some advice on adjusting the windows in-out up and down. Thanks again.

hi i have just done my seals, they are really easy
1. you will need doors open/roof down
2. there are 3 gromets holding the seals in place, 2on the header rail and 1 at the bottom of the seal. these must be taken out and reused unless you have new ones i found the best way was with 2 small flat screwdrivers and carefully lever them out
3. now its just a matter of scraping out the old seals i used a sharp chisel for this, go careful down the pillar as there are screws holding the channel on these will ruin your sharp chisel. once they are out and the channels are cleared of all the old seal/glue you are ready to put the new ones in, i used sikoflex for this but black silicone is a cheaper option.
4. adjust your windows time now, mine didnt need doing so ill let someone who has done it advise here.

i left my hood down till the glue went off overnight, i suppose the time required will depend on the outside temp. hope this helps.

Hi there I ended up taking mine to GST, who did a brilliant job, even adjusting it before I took it back. I no longer get WLS (wet leg syndrome)!

Just bought Elan, roof if awfull.
Hi could you tell me wher to get hold of a pair of A pillar seals ?
I also am looking for seals that go at the top and back of the roof which seal the widow.

Hi there, speak to Gerald on 01638 661144 he did my seals for me. There is more to it than just taking the old ones off if you want to do a good thorough job.
