Help - "lost" actuator rod for door lock button!

Well, I'm mystified ! The drivers-side lock button stopped coming up (other side is fine) and I can simply pull the button up & out, as a loose object, only held in place by gravity.

The button has obviously seperated from the rod that I imagine must come up from the lock area, for whatever reason (orange clip looks fine) but - when I try to find the rod, it seems to have simply disappeared! I have unscrewed the button-holder from the door and done my best to look in, with a small torch, expecting to see a rod hanging around somewhere in there but......... nothing visible!

I guess that I can go into full door-trim removal but really expected a simple reconnect from 'above' to be possible. Any thoughts or ideas, please? Maybe I'm missing something really simple...........

door panel off unless you have aftermarket speakers that you can move and get your hand through - it'll be lying in there one end attached! Check the state of the back of the orange clip too.

Thanks for that - so you reckon that it has simply 'flopped down', pivoting on the still-attached lower end? I'm sure you must be right but I'm just a bit surprised that I can't see it down there!

I did get half-way into door trim removal, getting my hand up into what I thought might be the right area, but couldn't find anything - did all this without looking at the Wiki guide, so I'll need to follow this and do the job properly, I guess!

Now fixed !

I duly removed the door trim and found that the cranked actator rod had seperated from the lock lever and had fallen, loose, to the door base. It went back quite readily and is now fully functional.
