front screen?

Postby shirt » Sun 22.11.2020, 07:16

morning all,

i am planning a trip to blighty pre xmas and so i'm looking to bring back some of the big ticket items that i'll need for my project - namely a new hood and front screen.

just wondering what colour the original screens were, and what the benefit would be of having bronze over green for example. i take it SVS are the only supplier?

I strongly suggest you do not use svs. Unless you want to hand over lots of money and never get your goods or see your money again. Plenty of incidences on here to this effect.

I'm sure there are plenty of windscreen sellers other than SVS. Try all the usual suspects.

There were 2 tints I think: bronze or green.

I had my screen replaced a few years ago (on the insurance) after it cracked.... I 'had' to use their approved installers, who happened to be Autoglass. They were able to source a brand new green tint screen in 4 days, and fitted it at the local depot the day after that. I don't know if they will just sell the screen, but it may be worth an enquiry.

Have you joined Club Lotus? Their quarterly magazine has lots of ads for the regular Lotus classic and current parts suppliers. And it's a good read too. I've been a member since 1984.
