PNM Window Seals

Finally got the old door external window seal out after dismantling most of the door only to find the new seals are nothing like the originals. I have read the post by WeinLot but while helping to some extent doesn’t help me now.

The original seals have 6 fixing holes and the PNM ones have 10, only the front and rear line up, the rest are miles out.

Has anyone else encountered this? My only thoughts are that I will have to drill the inner door skin and make some new access holes and pilot drill some new fixing holes?

I didn't have any trouble with mine. They did need trimming, but I think only at one end. Maybe they got muddled up with seals for a different model of car.

My original 1992 seals have the screw holes in the same place as the PNM ones.
From the opera glass headlights it looks like you have a very early car, so perhaps a change to the seals was made early in production?

Hi MG..I replaced mine with PNM's..and they didn't line up at all. However, the holes for the self tapping screws in the door edges were busted/flaking away, so I reinforced the inside of the edges with a long strip of GRP. A bit fiddley but well worth it, then you can drill your own holes and makes a tighter/stronger seal. best of luck. M

Yes it is a pre production model, it was one of the early press cars, so I might find quite a few differences as I go through it.

I did have to fiberglass quite a bit on the inner parts of the door where the original screws and rivets had been, so made it stronger and made some new holes to fix it.

I now need to get it out of the garage, turn it round and repeat the fun on the passenger door.

If you mean the rubber seal between the door and the glass, the answer is in the thread title: PNM!

If you mean the seals between the glass and hood an A post, then they are no longer available except occasionally on fleabay at a cost. They can however be made from other car seals: see various threads by Jamie N who designed and made some for sale.

If you are a hands on type you can fabricate the weatherstrips from a 2001 - 2005 Honda Civic, which will yield a result
much better than the originals and which will last the lifetime of the car without splitting in multiple places.

You will need the Honda clips with them as well, 4 per side is enough and you have to modify the clips slightly by lengthening
them with a small strip of plastic, heat welded onto them (old soldering iron, easy enough job).

They have to be from a 3 door version. This is one fitted......

Yes he did: there's a huge thread on all the hood seals by him on here.
