Window Regulator From Peugeot 406, not P405

Hi all,

Has anyone tried/any thoughts on using the window regulator from a Peugeot 406 rather than, as the Wiki and other threads suggest, a 1992 - 1995 P505?

Having a look at these eBay listings, they look absolutely identical: - Seems like the part number is 9615036880.

They've got all the same markings on both sides of the regulator. The motor is 12v.

I imagine you would still need to adjust the studs as they might not be long enough. - They look like they are bolted on, though, so they should be easier to remove. My only concern is whether the cables would be long enough out of the box that there's enough length to cut them down for the Lotus slider.

I'm tempted by this over the 405 as they seem more readily available, at a much lower cost. - Also, it seems easier to get them in the UK so could chance an order, and return if needed, without being out a large chunk for postage.

Just interested in whether anyone else has tried/thought about this before? Or if anyone can see anything I've missed?

My window regulator was rebuilt by SJ Sports some years ago (date is unclear, but perhaps 2013), and I wonder if it's different to what came in the car originally. It looks identical in every single way to that off of a 406 estate, it however, doesn't quite look identical to other ones I've seen on the forums.

Does anyone have a picture of theirs for reference?

My one does not have grooves in the mounting arms, and only has one screw to attach the faceplate - like that from the P406. However, other ones on the forum, and those pictured here https://lotusbits.com/product/refurbish ... elan-m100/ indeed have two screws on the faceplate and grooves in the arms. Noah.. I've replaced using the 405 a number of times..both sides. Its a bit tricky... but works really well...and gets rid of that ridiculous OEM one. Send me a PM and I'll send you all the pics and stuff

I'll do a proper update when I'm done.

However, on Friday, I managed to transplant the Purgeot 406 regulator/motor assembly onto the Lotus slider assembly. Now just to put it back in the car...

Well, unfortunately, I haven't had very much time recently!

Question though: When I slave the motor in outside of the car, after a number of back and forths, the cable seems to pull out of the end crimps. Is this because more force gets applied to the motor system outside of the vehicle than when it's in the car? - Would the window physically stop the motor system from maxing out?

I've crimped it quite hard with a proper crimp tool, so not sure why it pulls out.

Any thoughts?
