Hood and door seals

See the topic 'New Roof Options' under Hood/Top/Bodywork section. Apparently Trim Technology provide a hood with seals for £635 + VAT but they don't fit them. If we buy in bulk or have a ready supply it might be worth trying to discover a fitter or 2 who do a good job at a reasonable price. Anyone on here willing to do it!!! And please count me in for new seals etc. The wretched door seals too.

Undoubtedly at a higher sale price than we are likely to be able to negotiate. Not that SJ adding a markup is necessarily bad (always had good dealings with them myself) but they are in business to make a profit.

Perhaps we should expect there to be a price premium if that is necessary for a secure ongoing supply. Personally speaking, and I know that it is unfashionable to say so, I think that profit is a very good thing.

Having posted pictures of mine under technical/bodywork section I think I am more than happy to have new
door seals sourced and certainly put my name down. In the meantime I will see how the silkaflex temporary
solution works just to tidy them up.

I would certainly be interested. My seals aren't in too bad a shape (except for the door seal knob) for a 1990 SE, but I suspect the intense Aussie sun will give them a rough time and kill them quickly.

If the vendor is knowledgeable in the construction of automotive grade seals such as these, it could be a real win, but we have to be careful.

I have experience sourcing parts from China. Depending on the vendor, you may have to do a little more than say, "Make some of these". The material has to be specified correctly or the result could be something that is made of materials not suited to the temperature extremes, flexes too little or too much, shrinks too much or contains open vs. closed cell foam.
