Door latch mechanism

Not sure if here is the best place or the electrics section. Anyway, I've removed the latch from my LH door as part of the strip down and rebuild I am doing. In removing it one of the bolts has become stuck and the sleeve in the unit just spins so it won't come out. I've tried and failed various methods such as drilling and a screw extractor but no joy. I was going to get it drilled out by someone with a pillar drill but haven't got round to it yet.

Anyway, tinkering earlier I was just test fitting a few bits back on and plugged it back in. Its now dead. Mechanism still functions but it doesn't go with the central locking. Bugger, I'd say my efforts to remove it along with cleaning it up have somehow killed it. So, any chance it can be saved? I've already asked in wanted for a new one and looked at the SJ website and note a RH one is £109! But that the left hand one isn't listed. Joy I tak it that's another obsolete part that is impossible to find.
