window droop

the drivers side window decided to droop last night, after removing the door panel( with help from the wiki) i found what i think may be described as a bobin wheel, countersunk bolt & retaining threaded washer in the door bottom. the motor still winds away quite happily but the glass won't lift right to the top. what do i need to do or look for next, thanks.

ok, under further investigation it appears that the bobbin is actually an 'up-stop' of which i should have two. i have one (not attached) and one missing. maybe the glass not moving freely is unrelated to these not being in place as they may have not been present for quite some time. although getting the glass to stop at the right height never seemed to be an issue. i suppose that means it could be one of many different problems. oh well, of to snetts tomorrow, i'm sure someone will be able to help diagnose the problem.

Have a word with me on Sunday at Snetterton as I may be able to help you out with the other bobin and a couple of tapping plates all be it not on Sunday as I will need to make them up

Does that mean over the next few months Bobins and Tappin plates all round....

Your correct chipp, it's an upstop.

Issue...

you should have four sliders fitted on a 92' if IIRC, (not the three varient), so check those and check the slider rails themselves, (They corrode and snap)

hello bob sorry to miss you at snetts but there was to much going on to stand still for to long. not had any time to do anything with the window yet, its being supported by a shortened broom handle at the moment. a new up stop and tapping plate would be a good start if you can sort one. are they not available from lotus anymore? as i recall, before i put the door card back on there was only three runners and it looked like the motor had slightly expanded out of its casing.........just found receipt for previous owner having two new motors fitted in 2004 by moorland jones. dont last long do they!
