Stuck nearside window

Postby hatters » Wed 22.06.2011, 12:26

Hi to you all
I know its an age old problem and you are all bored stiff about guys asking questions about WINDOW PROBLEMS ,however it would appear that the problem I have is not on any of the past problems that have been discussed previously on our forum .
So hear we go with the problem .The nearside window will not operate on my Elan .I have have used my test lamp and checked that there is power at the small connector block that pushes into the motor .So I removed the three 10 mill nuts that hold the motor on and I removed the two 10 mill nuts that hold the top and bottom of the cable slide of the regulator in place ,and still the window will not move down the channels its absolutely solid in the middle there appears to be a small movement on both sides of the glass but something in the middle of the window is preventing me from pushing the window down the channels I don't want to use too much force in case I finish up cracking the glass There doesn't appear to be anything holding the window up like a chunk of wood or anything else but I need to get the window down so I can release the glass from the regulator .
Has anyone else experienced this problem if so I would very much appreciate it if you would give me some idea of what to do next so I can get on with the job ,because when this window is fixed I have got to sort out the off side one which works but the window sticks half way up and you have to lift it up at the back in order to close it properly.

Cheers for now

Hi Roan.

Sorry I can't help with your stuck window but Yesterday I had the same problem as your other window (ie got stuck halfway and had to be lifted up at the back)

I found that winding the window down and a quick squirt with WD40 aimed at the rear rail is a temp fix. How long it will last I do not know.

I guess sliders are worn out? are these still available?

Thanks for that information Wayne ,I will give that ago and see if it cures it, because I could do without stripping that side as well
