Can a late model finishing strip be used on a pre vin M8161

Hi

I am starting to reassemble my doors, and I notice there is no finishing strip (Service Manual, section BK, page 12) which seals between the brush strip and the door trim panel.

SJSports has them as INNER DOOR TRIM TOP STRIP B100B0845F and B100B0846F, from vin M8161 .... my car is pre vin M8161.

Looking at the outer door drop glass seal, the later model is slightly longer than the inner, and it can be used with a bit of fettling... I assume the same is true for the inner?
