I dismantled my doors to replace the glass weatherstrip, which involves removing the door glass. I noticed that on the left (passenger) glass, there is only one up stop cone/bobbin fitted, and it looks like the door has never been dismantled before. Furthermore, there are no witness marks around the rear glass hole to suggest that one has ever been fitted.
Did a bit of searching on LEC and noticed an old post from an owner who said theirs was missing too.
Just wondering whether it is a common occurrence. Was Lotus a bit short of bobbins the week my car was made? The window feels solid enough when up. The butterfly clip and front bobbin seem to hold it in place well. Drivers door has two bobbins.
Anyone shed any light?
Thanks, Robert

The butterfly clips can fail, so I'd suspect someone has had it apart to replace said clip and not replaced the bobbin for some reason. It should have one really, as although the window mechanism does seem to be working, it'll be putting a strain on the butterfly clip and cause it to fail.
Check out S J Sportscars, it's listed as an up-stop cone in the body & trim section.

Thanks Pete yes good advice I daresay. Will place the order. The bobbin is cheap enough but that through bolt is pricey! Might measure up and see if I can fabricate one.
