Door Glass Support Pads Source

Just spoke with South West Lotus Centre for an order and it appears that the Inner and Outer Door Glass Support Pads (Little Furry things) are now considered 'Obsolete and unavailable'.

The best they could recommend was that most parts are Vauxhall parts.

Does anyone know if the support pads are a Vauxhall part and, if so, what I should be asking for when I go into the dealership? Or, if there are not off a Vauxhall, where abouts I might be able to source some. These parts tend to degrade and fall off with age as happened on my driveres door. As I'm about to take the N/S door apart I thought it would be a good opportunity to sort out.

I came across the same issue when I rebuilt my door last year.

To work around the lack of parts, I simply used the existing inner support brackets (which were complete, just missing the brush strip) and attached a length of 'inner brush strip' to them (available from SJ's). As for the outer support pads (they'd rusted completly), I sourced a length of flat Aluminium strip, drilled it to match the existing holes and again, attached a length of brush strip.

I used SJ's brush strip (most likely you'll have a few off cuts if you've replaced the existing one) & attached it with impact adhesive i.e red EVO stick. Simply apply to the back of the strip & either the bracket/aluminium, leave it a few minutes to become tacky, them clamp the two together and leave them over night. Remove the clamp, tidy up any glue overspill with a knife, fluff up the brush strip and get it fitted.

I've had mine in place for 12 months & to be honest, the addition of the support pads, do make a difference i.e the window glass doesn't rattle and the action is a lot smoother than without them.

I'll look into that option. I'm not adverse to a bit of bolt and build so that should be fine. Been to the local Vauxhaul dealer and it definitely isn't a Vauxhaul part. Seems to only be appropriate to soft top vehicles where there is not dor frame to support the glass.

Will contact SJ's for the necessaries.
