So, just had an email saying my injectors have arrived in the UK and cleared customs and on a courier for delivery. Seven day's from the Sates, so not too bad.
So must ask what is maybe a stupid question.
What's the best way to fit the injectors, into the head first then fit the fuel rail, or the fuel rail then into the head.

Also, does anyone have a good spare offside lower front wishbone and rear shock for sale. I have a leaking rear shock and badly corroded wishbone which I would like to replace so that can try her for an MOT once the injectors are fitted.

Thanks guys.

Attach to fuel rail first.

Update.

Guess what arrived today. Yep nice package with 4 injectors. Downside, they forgot to include the retaining clips so I sent them a message and hey presto, they are being sent from the States on urgent delivery. Cant complain about the service from this supplier, they have been brilliant. BUT. I spoke with a few officiandos and they said, go ahead and fit them without the clips as they are held in place by the fuel rail which is bolted down and as it's only to test the system I can keep an eye open for leaks. So, the little gems were fitted, SWMBO was at the key so I could listen for the little cracking noises which indicated they were working, oops fuel leak. Pulled the leaking one and fitted a replacement "O" ring which they had sent me a spare set free of charge. They are £10 for four from UK suppliers. Mrs W at the key again and hey presto, 2nd turn of the key and she springs into life. Well spluttered would be a better description, but only for a few  moments and off she went. Engine ticking over sweet as a nut. Left her running to get up to full temp and again another surprise. 3/4 on the temp gauge and both fans kick in. Oh am I happy boy. twenty minutes later I get an email from another parts man saying he has found me a good rear damper complete with spring ready to fit and in good condition for the princely some of £40 pounds delivered. Don't ask how it got damaged, a blond moment on my part. So now once the damper arrives, get it fitted, bleed the brakes and ready for an MOT. Doubt I will have it done before going off to work though.

Must say I am well impressed with he suppliers in the states, Ron, my contact with them, has been emailing every day to see if they had arrived and given me loads of advice on what to do prior to fire up etc. They seem to do a large selection of electronic sports parts for the race scene in the good old US of A. Cant praise the guy enough.

Sounds like you are making progress but now you've got the satisfaction that it runs I think you should move the cambelt change to the top of your 'To do list', ahead of MOT. Standing for 6 years is not good for the section of belt wrapped 'inside out' round the tensioner pulley. I left an Eclat with a new belt for 3 years and 300 miles after I started using it again it lost the teeth over that section, cam timing slipped on the smooth section and 16 valves got bent ... :banghead:
Must be one of the easiest belts to change too!

Ok, so now she is running fine and the rear brake calipers fitted, I thought I would get the brakes bled by using the Mrs to pump the pedal. After several failed attemps, I now have a good brake pedal which stops all four wheels pretty well and a working hand brake, my only problem being the offside front sticks on. The seals are in a mess, and so are the slides. As far as I can recall this was the issue the PO had with her when she went off the road six years ago. So, going by previous post on here, it looks like MK11 Astra's are the same, so I have ordered up a new set at only £50 the pair with an agreement from the suppliers that if they don't fit they will take them back for a full refund. Now just too wait on another delivery of parts.
Out of interest, there is a fitting coming off the plenum box which is connected to a small bore plastic pipe on the left hand side of the plenum. This has snapped off at the elbow. What is it's purpose and are they available. I have it stuck on with superglue for now, but don't know if this will be successful or not. Any thoughts.

Is it the fitting i circled in this picture? If it is, it is the MAP sensor feed and they are now obsolete. Twin Cam Geo Storms also used them but most I find at the breaker yards are already broken. GM calls it a filter so I don't know if using a plain nipple is correct.

Hi and thanks for the info. Yes that's the one I am speaking about. I take it then there is no other cross ref part available, so just hope the super glue holds out.

There are no interchanges that I can find. They went obsolete from Lotus, GM and Isuzu a long time ago.

The nipple pointed down from the plastic lump and I thought about using some "hobby/model" brass pipe and carefully tapping both the tube and the plastic and threading them together with some epoxy on the threads. I have around five broken ones and one not broken as "spares". So far, the one in my car has remained not broken, so I will face that decision in the future,

Yes, saw that set on ebay, but as mine were in a right mess and I had replaced the rear caliper's I thought sod it. New ones will go on then the whole brake system has been replaced and should be good for a long time to come. My next issue will a be an anti roll bar as I just noticed a crack where it ties in with the front suspension. Are they hard to find and what are they like to fit.

OK so for the past week I have been busy sorting out brakes. New calipers fitted to the rear and rbuilt ones on the front all with new pads of course. Got the chance to get her up on my neighbours ramp the other day so the underside all cleaned of surface rust and flaky bit's and given a good coat of paint. So this morning after a final bleed, of she went for and MOT and low and behold she came home with one, and no advisories. Happy Bunny. Next step is the paint shop on Monday to have the bonnet, rear spoiler, tops of the front wings and the front bumper painted all because of peeling lacquer.

A great success for an abandoned little M100.

Misunderstood about the sliders.. if you got pair of refurbed calipers for £50 you did well. When are you doing the cambelt ???? :poke: :poke: :poke: :poke: Hate to see it all end in tears....

Well done, John. You've saved an Elan. :bananasex:
Are you going to be keeping this one as yours? :poke:

(PS: sorry I didn't get a chance to chat at the weekend at the Royal Deeside Festival of Speed. I got swept away in the crowd crossing the track. Maggie told me what you chatted about. That explains why the car clubs bottom field was empty.)

Honestly, I will have it done shortly. She goes for paint on Monday morning so will have time to source belts. Did an oil change yesterday and the oil pressure shot up to what it should be. The old oil must be at least 6 years old as that was when she came off he road. I had a bit of work to do to get the front calipers to fit, but they were fine and work great. Todays task is to give her a bloody good clean to the interior and see how it comes up. There is no damage, just hellish grubby.

John W. Not too sure of her future plans as yet, may tax her and run her for a wee while, but I think I will be selling her on as too many cars again.

Well the little rescued Lotus M100 came back from the paint shop today resplendent in a nice new coat on the bonnet, front bumper and rear spoiler due to lacquer peel and look's much, much better. Just to wait a few day's for the paint to harden off then a bloody good clean in the interior. First pic is as found. Then as she is now.

Looking good John. Well done

when you're scrubbing up the interior, remember Honda S2000 seats look good. Unless you fancy refurbing the OEM's ? Craig Moncrieff in Embra' has a good contact. Roger from Perth had his done and they look fantastic ;-)
