Sump Plug Washer?

Postby Coupeboy » Wed 09.09.2009, 21:52

Can anybody recommend a supplier of cheap sump plug (copper) washers? Paul Matty wanted 25p each last year - now one is £1.48 (I walked out in disgust). Halfrauds didn't know which one it was but the cheapest on the shelf was £1.22. It's just a copper washer for God's sake but I don't know what size it is until it's off the car in my hand - see my problem yet? I want a bag of 10 or something for a £1. Thanks

I use the same washer as I use on my Honda.. cost me about 30p each IIRC and bought 20 at the time, and still have a few left so don't know what the going rate is.

I've got a bag of 100 of these!... SAE's from LEC members will be returned with a free washer in them ;)
(having said that, the cost of 2 stamps and 2 envelops is probably more than the washer's worth!!

Thanks for the replies - unfortunately nobody wins the Mars bar. The correct answer is: Copper washer size xx I/D, xx o/d and XX thick obtainable in any quantity from www.websitesellingwashers.xx. I think Bob and Gordon came closest. Gordon - would you be able to measure one of your washers (assuming they are for the Elan) and I'll test Bob's website suggestion. Then I'll add it to the sump washer thread in cross reference parts. Cheers

Nice thought Gordon, however what about having a few on the stand at Malvern?

The one's I got to pattern A100E6159S 'Washer-Sump Drain Plug' are 14x20x1.5 mm

I got a bag of 50, seem to remember it was about £5, but I might have been wrong.. I got them from CPC, just because I happened to have an account with them.

No idea if I'm going to make it to Malvern, but if I do I might just have a dozen or so in my pocket for the stand... Either there, or wherever the "new" Donington is going to be!!..

Gordon

Edit:
Ha - just found them again!!

Not claiming they were cheap, it was simply a source...

Thanks Gordon - trip to CPC tomorrow for a bag of 50 - there's nothing on e-bay that suits. I might sell the surplus on e-bay (for a fair price obviously).
