Just an idle thought, has anyone got any experience in plastic moulding techniques? Could clear front indicators/sidelights be manufactured? If so what would be the likely cost?

Ian, Thanks for the quick reply. That link is discussing the side repeaters mounted on the front wing (by the wheel arch). I was wondering about the clear and amber lenses at the front. I know there is a company selling them for 110 euros but was wondering if there is a cheaper supplier or if someone has the knows to make them.

Hi,
I know someone who can make them as good as that other company. He made me a set for my Celica and they look soooo nice. But it would depend on how many people want them and confirmed orders.
Heres a photo of my Celica with them on:
I have spoken to him regarding these indicators and he is keen to add another string to his bow.
The Advantage is it would be a Uk company that makes them and the batch could be turned around in a matter of weeks.
Cheers

I think you'll find that there's plenty of interest...

Ok then.
If you would like a set of Clear front Indicators or very high quality, produced and despatched from the Uk. Please add a post here. Put the next number down and your name.
These need to be firm orders and not yeah i might have a set because he will be stopping production of a different indicator to make them.
They will be in £60-70 pair set price range but could be less on a large order. I think if we got 20 sets it would be cheaper.
I need highlight that they are very good quality.
Maybe he could buy and sell the side indicators at cost too.
Cheers

How similar to the original will they be? I have posted some pictures to show how good the radicast copies are, they now appear to do a smoked indicator. Price is 120 euros including shipping which is roughly £82.
Will yours be clear or smoked, and have the same pattern as original? I am very interested in a set, but would like to know a bit more before commiting.
I already have clear side indicators and these are now so cheap I don't think it is worth including these in the group buy.
Maybe you should move/start a thread in the Products section to get more interest and even let the Esprit boys know, as the front indicators are the same.

Is it possible to get a full set? As in fronts, sides and rears? Now that would be the 'bee's knees'...

Hi All,
The clear ones will be as good as if not slightly better, i seem to remember so one who had them spoke about the plastic material feeling slightly different than the originals.
I would say the price of £82 or less would deffo be the target but its not my call, but i can have a word and see what the company say.
No idea about smoked lenses i myself would want only clear ones, but if you want smoked your could tint them yourself.
The company actually take original Porsche rear light units and remove the orange lense and replace it with a new clear one. I believe this is very time consuming but looks great.
Maybe if the clear fronts have enought interest then the mod to the rears might be an option. I might have a word about the rears at the same time. It would mean you car will be with out rear light for a few weeks though.
So Put your name down and let me know if your interested in the front Clear Indicators and the rears (if possible).

I can loan you a set of rears to act as a template, if you like?

Sounds interesting. You may end up with a set of rears clean looking with clear indicators though!
Would that be a problem? lol
Cheers

If it were a problem, I wouldn't have volunteered.

Morning,
Right ive spoken to the company via email, and they are keen!
Firstly heres a photo of the current Indicators they make.
The Price will be around £60-70 for a set including bulbs! There needs to be 6 firm orders for the moulds and setting up to be worth it. But the more firm orders the better the price im sure..... eh Rich?
Smoked wont be an option because of the legal requirements and the task of getting the tint dark enough or light enough for each customer.
Just to confirm the Indicators are still handed? It would be much better if one mould made both.
I think the rear lights are do-able too.
So 6 people!!!

They're still 'handed' if you include a ridge on the inside where the old amber/clear joined.
Just let me know how you want to play the rears.

Hi,
I meant with any part numbers on them or lettering. If not you can just spin them around 180 deg.
Will let you know about the Rears.

OK, so there's no ridge between the longer old amber area and the short old clear area.
Makes 'em nice and simple - and it's a good price with amber bulbes included.

Paul,
side repeaters are a Rover part same as 90's Minis and MGF so available from your local friendly Rover dealer

or on 2nd thoughts a Mini specialist
miniworld.co.uk
minispares.co.uk etc so not worth tooling up for.
The rear lights I believe are a very expensive Renault part which would be worth tooling up.
