Did anyone try one of these radio's in their M100?

This one is nice but expensive, and a bit too early when you look at the design. I love it though:

I ordered this one for my M100, it arrives next week. I plan to inverse the LCD screen though:

And this is the one radio I'm after as I recon it looks ace in our Elan. And "Deutsche Wertarbeit"
But also the price is almost lotus... crazy money! so it's not gonna happen unfortunately:

Too bad the Becker series don't come with Bluetooth audio protocol, only speech.

It is not to flashy but holds the phone for any satnav requirements. Or with the phone holder stowed it looks clean.

I like that Kienzle head unit - but £850!!!??.

And I have previously looked at the Pioneer one, but I didn’t think there’d be room for my phone in front of the air vents. Pioneer used to do a really nice single-DIN unit with a flip-out screen, but it seems to have disappeared from their price list lately.

I think I’ll stick with a road atlas and/or Google maps for the time being

I saw that, looks nice for my wife's Volvo, but for the Elan i want something more OEM looking hence the above list where the Kienzle is perfect as it has no front panel bezel at all, but the buttons go to till the edges.

Mine never came with a radio. The original receipt was for a Kenwood CD/Radio with amplifiers, but no idea which model. Most of the time I will leave the phone in my pocket so the vents being obstructed is not a problem but it is available as and when needed.

Will the pioneer still be useful if app support stops after a year or two?

It was only £125 so not the end of the world. The problem with ones with built in maps is how long and how much for the map updates. I didn't want to put a normal satnav on and it is amazing how much I now rely on satnav.

I have a radio in mine, no idea what the make is and whether it is 'period' or not though it looks '90s.

Must turn it on sometime to hear what it is like.

True, But i believe it runs igo (or what's the name) Isn't that an open platform for open maps? that should last a little longer on enthusiast volunteers, just like LEC!

Well, since the Kienzle Satnav is waaaaaaaay too expensive I will wait a year or 2 and buy it then.
Meanwhile I bought another Kienzle!

Short depth (no CD) DAB+, bluetooth, A2DP, The whole shebang.
This has a bezel less design as well and I love it as it looks (allmost) OEM
For Navigation I use my iPhone SE which fits perfectly in the OEM Lotus iPhone holder: The plate above your instruments.
I have a USB charging cable next to the binnacle as well. I'll shoot a picture later.

Not a shiny bling bling Sony, but a nice clean OEM look. I'm happy!

Excellent choice! I have this same unit in my daily driver (1999 BMW Z3) and the previous-generation Kienzle is installed in Smaug. IMO, the best combination of period looks and contemporary function that mere mortals can afford. After I hit the lottery, though, it'll be time for the retro-new Blaupunkt SQR46

I saw some pictures, looks excellent in the Z3, almost tailor made!

The blaupunkt looks more at home in a 80-ies car though.
I installed the Continental per above in my new (2000) Volvo T4!

Nice! I like how all the dials line up now from the heater control and the radio and you aren't having to reach to the other side to do much.

BUT I thought it would be hotter here in Texas, than where you are, but even I don't have 2 AirCon's?!? That must be a very cool ride

You spotted one advantage that I did not see. Yes, controls are all in the correct position like this

The 2nd aircon Switch was there to ground the satnav head unit when needed

I fitted a Becker Indianapolis 7922 a few years ago as I thought it matched the era of the car. The Nav needs a lot to be desired though.

With one of these, I can't remember the exact model, I get hands free & streaming.

To be honest with the roof down and a bit of speed, the hands free is almost useless
