Coolant pump harness connection location?

Postby E7AN V » Wed 06.10.2021, 23:57

I am trying to reinstate the electric coolant pump on my 1990 RHD elan. I am following the wiring diagrams but am unable to locate the coolant pump harness connection (CPHC). I have located the cooling fans harness connection (CFHC) behind the nearside headlight pod but where do I go next to find the coolant pump connections? Anyone know for sure, please?

Sorry to say I don't know the answer to your question. I do want to ask ~ is there any particular reason why you need the electric pump?

In 15 years of Elan ownership I've only had the pump cut in once (for about 30 seconds) That happened in a black Elan at Le Mans where the ambient temperature was over 40 degrees Celsius. If I had waited for a minute or so for the fans to do their job and then cut out ~ then the coolant pump wouldn't have kicked in anyway

Maybe in Aberdeen ....

Connecting the pump up just for completeness and would like to know more about my Elan (I’ve only had it a few weeks)
I agree the chances of it being needed to operate are pretty slim.

Fair enough.

FWIW I replaced one (because it leaked!) with a secondhand one off an early Vauxhall Omega.

Great video this points me in a promising direction. When the rain stops I’ll step outdoors and check it out on my car.
FWIW I am using a similar pump to the video from an early 2000’s W203 Mercedes saloon (£15ebay)
Thanks gentlemen.

some people say those pumps are plug and play. In the video you see that mine wasnt a plug a play fit, I suspect dependsing on the aftermarket brand you find them to have an extention lead or not.
My videos may say "how to" in the titles, but depending on the topic sometimes their more of a vlog of "how i done it" instead of "how you should do it"
prefixing video titles with "how to" brings views. but also attracts a lot of :censored: around. So i dont use that prefix always, specially when im not recording the whole thing as a guide
