ignition switch

Postby stevo » Sun 25.03.2018, 12:12

hi all, im not far getting the orange beastie back to full fettle but im still having no joy tracking down an ignition switch. the part no. is a100m6179s and fro what i can work out its only the electrical switch part that i need and not the whole ignition barrel. the part is obsolete but im wondering if it was common to the carlton\senator? has anyone got stock or had to change one for an alternative?

cheers in advance, stevo.

I might have one in my box of "just in case" bits, will have a look through and let you know.

Just checked and the part I have is a brand new one still in the packing with the same part number you have listed - A100M6179S, but it is described as IGNITION SWITCH ROW! I assume ROW means Rest Of World so don't know if that means there is a difference between UK & ROW.

Let me know what you think.

I'm not finding any info on 2 types? Surely they would have separate part numbers if there where any difference. I'd be happy to take a chance on it anyway. Can you pm please.

There were two part numbers: A100M6179S is for the Left Hand Drive and SIR steering column

A100M6178S is for the Right Hand Drive assembly.

Lotus used two different switch assemblies for the two different columns.

The Left Hand switch is the same as a Pontiac.

I show it is also obsolete but A082H6460H is now shown as a replacement for the LHD only and that is still available for £10.43 from Lotus

SJs show A100M6178S as available from their old stock for £35.00

Lotus shows A100H6022F to be "Steering Lock & Ignition Switch Assembly, RHD" and it is still current and £23.79 from a dealer

I hope this helps.
