In addition, I have tracked down the GM part number to the ITT generic part number and found a datasheet and compared it to the purported replacement regulators: THE INPUT AND OUTPUT PINS ARE TRANSPOSED. I have confirmed this on the instrument panel pcb so I can't believe that anyone has successfully replaced one with a LM2937 or similar.

I don't know what you lot are buggering around at..
. Hethel are still supplying dealers with the OE regulator at £10.12+VAT on the original part number of A100N6007S ...

Yeah, but they're all 30 years old and liable to die at the same time that the ones in the cars start dying. They aren't common and even the reasonably close replacements are reaching end of life.
