Stormforce cover

Postby Mountainman » Sun 18.08.2019, 19:58

Hello

I bought a cover for my elan a stormforce 4 layer all bells and whistles £160 blah blah
Well I did not see this coming next doors cats ripping shreds out of it lol!!

Do you wonderful people think there would be any issues putting a extra plastic bag over? Obviously would not be breathable.

I hope to garage the car over the winter months.

Thanks jamie

Do NOT do it. Your car will "sweat" underneath and the inside will be covered with a white bloom and smell musty

Thanks!! Yeah thought it would be a bad idea, just thought I’d check.

I’ll come up with another solution, maybe perhaps a cat sonic gadget or something heard
They don’t always work though.

Cheers

I would hope the cat owners would replace the cover if their cat has torn it!

Spray the cat with water next time it is near your car, it doesn't hurt them but they don't like getting wet, do it a few times and the cat will learn to stay away.

Tape up the torn cover with Duck tape until you get the cat problem sorted.

My Stormforce cover has been scratched by next door’s cat too! The fabric must make a good scratching post. No tears in mine just a few holes (luckily no damage to the car). It’s also not on the car often, unlike the cat, which likes to sit on the rear deck (which has got scratches). Cat deterrent tips welcome.

(Still the same cat you showed on a photo once? Oo — now I would be pretty annoyed too, to be honest!)

I have found a high powered water pistol to be the best. A catapult is also quite good but mind the car !! Failing that, if you want to be semi kind, get a thin plastic water bottle and scrunch it up. They hate the noise apparently

All brilliant suggestions however I have gone down the plastic prickle strip road.
Will look a bit strange but should do the job.
The car will be able to breathe and it should deter the cats.
Have bought 2 rolls at 2 meters long, just need to come up with a way of securing to the cover so they don’t blow off
In the wind or damage the car.

Plastic bag should work..... Take cat, put in bag, re locate to next town....... Just kidding. I love cats :)

I think that I have tried everything to keep the stray cats off my cars, but nothing seems to work. :( Cover on or off.
Shouted at them, chased them, sprayed them with water, Pepper, etc.

Worst thing was chasing them off when they are on the car, claws come out for traction control, scratches show on car.
