windscreen replacement (localish)

Does anyone have a recomendation (or places to avoid) for a windscreen replacement in North Somerset(ish)....

...having returned from holiday, uncovered the blue car on the drive to get it out of the way of the Vectra, noticed a rather large couple of cracks top to bottom

There is no evidence of a 'strike mark' or otherwise starburst damage, so an impact is unlikely - i suspect it's down to the extreme temperatures (not used to hot weather!) ....

anyway, before i contact the insurers, i'm researching options on repairers (there is a £75 excess with their 'approved repairer' but £125 with any other repairer).

The main concern is to have it done properly, as we all know it is a time consuming job, with specific adhesives etc - as such, i'd rather pay the extra £50 to get it done well - especially as i only recently fitted new 'A' pillar seals.

Any advice appreciated.

They did a great job of my windscreen repair, to Lotus spec. including replacement of all the seals, which I understand will almost inevitably be damaged during the process.
Total cost about £1150, which was then refunded (less a small excess) by the insurance company. I'd consider travelling quite a distance to use them if it happens again.

Hi Dave,

Not quite what you had in mind,but if you need options.

These guys will source a screen, Uroglas bromsgrove, £140 quid, should you need a supplier. Unfortunately I don't know a good fitter..think shipping was £65.
