Seatbelts don't return

Postby JonJon » Sat 26.10.2013, 11:50

Hi All,
Can the inertia reel seatbelts be adjusted to make them return better, I've squirted a little WD40 on them, it helped a little but they still wont reel in properly.
Cheers Jon.

Jon, look in the wiki, there is a complete process detailed for the restoration of seatbelt function which should keep you entertained all day.

Thanks for that epipete,
I've just had a look at the wiki. If it stops raining anytime this weekend I'll have a go at fixing them. I'll try to take some photo's as I go and post them up.
Cheers Jon.

Once the belts are out I guess its one of those jobs you can do on the kitchen table, if shmbo goes out (should you have such a problem)

I'm building the Elan for "THE BOSS". In that respect "I was only trying to get your car finished" normally gets me off the naughty step

:D It's really not messing around with old units when it's a safety matter,
old units that need WD40 against new units ? hmmmm :smt017
just send them to FDTS they send you back your originals (which you throw away) and you get two brand new units, and at a price you won't believe

See this link and then open up spread sheet or PDF highlighted in the very last post of the thread. All parts listed are still available from ANY Lotus dealer.

Unfortunately, the £35.00 seat belt kit was dropped from the Aftersales list in 2012 and is back at regular retail for £139.02.

A word of caution: the parts on the Aftersales list are usually end of stock items and subject to being sold out at any time. Your local dealer can verify if the part you are looking for is still available.

Morning everyone,
Thanks for the list and info Brit-Car-Nut,
£139! is that per side or per pair? I've just looked through the parts list, but didn't see them listed, might be the lack of caffin :asleep:

Actually I'll contact Steve's people first, sorry, that was a bit hasty without even checking with them.

Per SIDE.

They are not on the list anymore. I have the old lists and checked to see when they disappeared. I also have the current Lotus Price book so I can see their price today ...
