The three dials on the dash hash slight rust on the bezels and I need to sort this, can somebody let me know how much of a job and how to remove these please

Not a technically difficult job, just requires nimble fingers, double jointed neck and patience. I removed mine recently to change the dial faces.

You'll need long nosed pliers, small mm sockets/spanners, screwdrivers and a bagful of patience.

Remove panel on top of the dashboard: 2 screws at the front.

Once removed, you can see the rear of the 3 dials. Each dial has a retaining bracket and 2 nuts, plus wires.

Start with the voltmeter and work across.

Carefully undo the 2 nuts that hold the retaining bracket and remove. Be careful not to drop them and their washers!!! Remove the panel light-bulb holder (twist and pull). A small mm socket will help with replacing the holder.

You should then be able to pull the dial out with wires attached. If wires are too short, remove first rather then after, making a detailed note of the colours and where they go(!)

Once out and detached you will see the bezel is crimped onto the plastic body of the dial. You need a small screw driver to carefully uncrimp it all the way round. Alternatively leave it on, sand down to remove rust, mask-up and respray with Halfords Satin Black spray. This is almost identical to the original finish.

Replacement is the reverse of removal.

Top tip: stand on seats, hands/arms below windscreen, head/face above windscreen looking through it at what you are doing.

You can also get chrome bezels to replace the black ones. I don't know where from though, as an unfitted set came with the car when I bought it. Still to fit them though.

There is a link in the products for sale section for these. Just got round to buying some having been watching them on eBay for ages. I've already got the dash surrounds but yet to fit.

those are for the view line range of vdo gauges and I'm not sure that will fit, check the diameter
