Interior fixtures: How to get hold of

After making a couple of phone calls to Lotus parts dealers, I understand that some interior fixtures are no longer available.  Does anyone know where I could get hold of a couple of plastic interior door lever surrounds?<br><br>Andy

The elusive escutcheons.  A well known phrase about pitching equines and their faecal waste, springs to mind.<br><br>Breakers?

I almost feel ashamed to have called them a plastic surround.<br><br>I did try one breaker, usually good at providing Elan bits - he almost laughted when I asked for them such is the frequency with which he's asked for the same part.<br><br>The phrase you refer to doesn't immediately come to mind, but I guess what you're saying is that I haven't got a horses sh*t chance of finding one. I'm sure you could find plenty of reference on the web from the modelling guys on how best to do this???<br>

There is a Ford flexible interior paint (I use the one they sell in a spray bottle) I have used in the past.  You cannot tell it from original.  Tomorrow I will look at the can in the storage room & get the part number off of it.  You can buy it from any Ford dealer.

The Ford paint is "Automotive Interior Spray Lacquer" M4J-4201-H, dark titanium interior.  It is a 13oz spray bottle.  It is very tough stuff & I have never scratched, worn or marred it.

I have a spare both RH & LH side in excellent condition.  They came with the car when I bought it but were never used.  The guy's son was trying to replace all the broken plastic bits and got these too for whatever reason.  Don't know what they are worth.  Perhaps someone can advise.  Would this be a good item for EBAY then?  (as I am losing my ass doing these bolt kits!)  ;D

Upon inspection the LH escutcheon ON MY CAR has a crack in it so I'll have to keep that spare.  I can part with the RH one though.

Cant help with replacement parts but may save some other breakages. One of mine was broken and I puchased a whole car for parts ( not just for that bit!!!). But when I went to remove the replacements I found that the fixing screws had been overtightened and pulled through  so some 'lotus' fitter had Sikaflexed them on at the back. Trying to remove them with a screwdriver at the edge would have resulted in a similar breakage. A thin pallet knife inserted carefully to cut through the sikaflex gives a good result. To all future 'lotus' fitters reading this---- sikaflex a washer to the back of the broken hole to support the original screw ---better idea

Cos I'd be interested to know the price for a pair, as I'll be buggering up my doors fitting new speakers soon
