Just got back from Le Mans and a box of escutcheons was waiting for me. Not had the chance to unpack fully yet but initial inspection of a pair shows them to be superbly finished, very smooth and shiny. I'll get onto the task of distributing them in the next day or so and update progress by posting here.

Sorry, this was a one off order for those who had bought in, check the thread for the history. I don't totally rule out a further buy as the moulds now exist but it will need to be a decent run to make it worthwhile. The price was £65 per pair shipped to the UK, onward shipping beyond that at cost. These are replacements for the plastic pieces behind the interior door opening handles. The plastic original items crack over time and although repairable with effort CF replacements solve this minor problem. Anyway they look very good!

I used to follow this thread, but other things with higher priority took precedence. Now, I've broken one of my escutcheons beyond repair, and I can't seem to find a replacement. I would love a pair of CF ones since that's a theme of my interior, but I was wondering. Does the fact they're being made of CF affect the required size of an order? Since the molds are now made, can they make them from other materials? If so, would they be cheaper/able to make smaller runs?

For parts of this size and type most of the cost is going to be labour.

THe 5 sets of Escutcheons I have delivery addresses for (Gareth, Drasicjazz, Elanlover, Matt RI and redvette6327) are all packed and will go in the post tomorrow. Sorry for the slight delay but the pile of boxes I'd been collecting were too small for what are suprisingly big items. So I've been sourcing bigger boxes. I'll know postage prices once they go and will PM both to confirm despatch and advise of postage costs, some have already paid enough to cover post and packing so I'll work out the final balance for all. I still have sets for the following: Theelanman, Dermotbell, rip, Ailwyn (x2) and Algirdas, I will be taking those for Algirdas to Hethel in Sep and can do the same for anyone else. If however you want them before Hethel please let me know your address so I can post them. Will try to get mine fitted soon and will post a picture, I'll also ask whatis necessary for another run (ie minimum order quantity).

Nige, received the escutcheons and they look great. One question though. For whatever reason mine do not have any holes for the mounting screw in the original escutcheon. Is this intentional or missed? Do I need to drill out the hole myself? Thanks.

None of the Escutcheons are drilled but you can see a faint impression of where the hole should be. The reason for this I'm told is that you can then drill to match your car exactly and therefore no worries about pre-drilled holes not lining up exactly. Seems sensible to me given that there are minor differences between almost all cars.

How would you do that? I mean....if you put the escutcheon in without the hole, then how do you know where to drill? Trying to accurately measure would be nearly impossible, wouldn't it?

Teehee....was just going to post how good it is that my x-ray visiosn still works after all these years. Otherwise it'd be pretty hard to see the socket through all that carbon fibre It'll be fine though. I'll just drill where the hole mark is.

I am curious about one thing though. On the OEM escutcheon, there is a conical head screw that advances into a socket in the escutcheon. Makes it so, when you tighten the screw, the head has something to push up against so to speak (am i being clear or confusing?) But, there's nothing like a socket for the screw to rest in on these escutcheons (especially if we are drilling a plain hole). So, what are people using to fasten it down with? The OEM screws or something else????
