Stainless Steel Door sill plates

I have started to prepare the parts for shipment and will conferm postage costs and payment details tomorrow. I have had to be a little creative with packaging. If you see a rather large Tolberone in your mail box. Check the contents before consuming it!!

I have prepared a couple of packages for uk delivery. JohnB (and George ie 2 sets), Sandra as she was one of the first to sign up and has sent a shipping address. Plus Tilsonic. As I need to get a correct postage amount for any additional US buyers. plus maybe it will help keep costs down if UK buyers want to get together and want more than 1 set shipped to 1 address.

Pinky has kindly offered to accept a trial DHL shipment for a few sets that providing I can get them delivered via employee prices will arrive in a couple of days. Not as cheap as regular post but a hell of alot faster and safer. Although I am personally happy with the parts. I would stil like other peoples oppinions (and critisism. before I offer to order any more).

I am willing to place another order for more parts but before I do it I would like to have a few other people look at the parts and see if the quality of the parts are acceptable to them. Or maybe find something that could be improved?

Just to add a quick update... I've posted several sets out and I am waiting untill they arrive before I send out any more so as I can get more feedback as to what other people think about them.

Personally. Other than it not having the double sided tape atached. I am very happy with the part.....

Currently 12 sets sent out and am awaiting replys. Providing there are no problems with the sent sets I will be willing to re order.

Many thanks to everyone tat has waited months for me to provide this part.

Okay, I have now got 8 pairs of pollished plates (and one sample of the brushed one) which arrived this morning from Wayne

I've looked at them, and actually think their better than the sets we had (in alluminium) a few years ago - the quality is very good (only my opinion, but there you go!)

Hopefully I'll take a picture tomorrow next to the ones fitted on my red car, so you can see the difference.


This parcel was sent to me as a bit of a 'trial' to see if we could get them into the UK without paying duty, and to minimise international postage - and associated risk of loss/damage.

Good news is that they got delivered by parcelforce without a bill from HMC&E, bad news is that I've got to do something with them!!!!

As such, and whilst I appreciate that there are lists of people who have been waiting a while, i intend to supply those who are going to Donington with a 'personal delivery service' - starting with the first list (does that make sence?)...

As such. i have compared the lists of those wanting these plates against those going to Donington, and have got a bit of a plan.......

If you can't wait until then, I'll post them on to you, but there will be additional costs (there is already a bit of a cost for the international leg of the postage)....

I'm happy to take cash on delivery, and for those who arent going to be there, then we can sort out the payment in due course - my first concern is to see Wayne get his money back, so I will pay him up front, and hold the 'debt' pending delivery.

The final price is (AFAIK) £15 a pair manufacturing cost, £4 pair international delivery (as far as my doorstep), and I will ascertain the internal postage if needed for this batch.

Now, I'm a great believer in that we all pay the same (as far as is reasonably possible), and who knows how much a future delivery to the UK will cost (it will depend on weights etc at the time).....

As such, would anyone object if we were to call it £25 a pair to your hand, and whatever it costs on top for internal postage?????

This WILL give a surplus of cash at this stage, but that can be used towards any increased costs for the next batch - after all, why should someone save a couple of quid over someone else (who were on the same list) due to the vagaries of the postage system.

Any excess money at the end of the project will NOT go into 'Pinkys beer fund' - unless you insist - but will go into the LEC coffers for the benefit of all of us.

Now, the observant amongst you will see that the above uses up 7 of the 8 sets i have, so i can either post one out (unless anyone else is going to Donny that I have missed out), or let someone else have it at Donny..... Personally, I'd rather it went out than sat here, but not bothered where it goes,

I will also have the 'brushed' sample with me so you can view it if you want to - but i think its fine, so want a pair for myself anyway

Anyway - all of this is only suggestion at this stage - what do YOU think?

I think your solution to the distribution issue is spot on.
Happy to pay £25 + whatever UK p&p for the spare one at the moment or wait for the next batch.(do NOT want to appear pushy)
Really hoped to get to Donny but its a 400 mile round trip for me just over two weeks before Ypres so common sense must prevail and I will have to pass this year.

as there seems to be a general consensus, i will also include some double-sided sticky tape in the price - i have had a look and reckon that something like this is the stuff we need.

If i get a few rolls i can stick it onto the back of the strips and trim it so fitting will be a simple job of peeling off the backing and dropping into the right place.

If you don't want the sticky stuff - just let me know, but if we all end up buying a roll of suff for this job there will be loads of half-rolls in garages throughout the country, so it makes sence to me to get it in one hit....

Hi all,

Whilst I take no credit for getting this project sorted - all down to Wayne, with help from others - I'm just the poor sap stuck with playing postman pat, and collecting money.

There is a bit of a moral dillema here, as I feel (as agreed by Wayne, that those who have been waiting the longest, get them first) To that end, and with reference to both the list at the top of page 5 of this thread, and the one produced here, I will try and get a 'definative' list sorted so that people get them in a reasonable order.

That said, I would prefer to deliver to Donington to those who will be there, wherever they were on whichever list (within reason - any new arrivals WILL have to wait until the next lot are made - even if they live next door to me!!!!), as it is unlikely that the new order will be made and delivered before that date - but we can hope.

Wayne still has a few more sets in Bahrain, and now we know that the delivery system seems to work, he will send them on to me next week. Once they arrive, and I've checked them to be okay, I'll update the list accordingly.

Once all of the Donington attendees are sorted, I'll post (if any) surplus out in the appropriate order.

If you are taking delivery by hand, then B-of-E notes are acceptable (or even Sweaty ones, I suppose ) - for any that will be delivered, I'll take EBT, cheque or as a last resort, PayPal.

For any that are to go out of the UK, we'll sort something suitable out.

With that in mind, to save me any extra grief, can I ask that anyone outside of the UK can please indicate which country they need to go to - it may be better to send one parcel, or seperate ones - I'll have to look into it. For those in USofA, I'm off to Florida in June, so if you can wait a bit longer, I can do a US postal delivery, if you think it's worthwhile

Cliff - are you currently UK or Germany? - my stepson is here on leave at the moment and returning to Germany on 14th by car, so can post yours over there if that works out better for you?
