Of course I'm fine with the £25. Thanks very much Wayne for your help and perseverance with this, and to others who've contributed. I'm a continent or so away from the car at the moment and will be for a while, so I'd be happy if Wayne wants to shuffle the places in the list for someone with an urgent need. I'd be glad to be part of any consolidated shipment to the Bristol area.

Stuart, let me know when you're back and I'll drop yours round to you - or is there still someone at the house to take delivery when they do get here??

Well, it's taken me 2 whole days to get a picture of the plates......

...taking it was easy - i just needed to rob some batteries for the camera out of the Wii handset. Then it got hard - my highly technical camera which is virtually new (in 1990) doesn't work with Windows 7, and my only XP machine is at work..... It took me 2 days to find an old XP disc (all my usual stuff is also at work), an old laptop, and then do a clean install so i could get the 2 pictures off the camera.

I know i could have used my phone, and done it in 10 seconds flat, but where's the sence of achievement in that.

Anyway, here are pictures i took comparing them to the Aluminium ones we bought a few years ago - i think you'll agree that the quality is certainly there, and the 'brushed' ones are sufficiently subtle but noticable. (well, I like them!)

Another parcel arrived today from Wayne, but i won't get to open it until tomorrow.

I will then check them over, and apply the sticky stuff to the backs. They will arrive with you (however and whenever that may be) with a nicely trimmed adhesive backing so all that will be required to fit them is clean the sill plate, peel off the backing on the tape and drop them into place!!!!

Over the weekend I will publish a definitive list, made up initially with those who will be at Donington for hand delivery, and also with reference to the original list on page 5 - hopefully those who expressed an interest first will get served first (if not, blame me and call me names - it isn't Waynes' fault).

Just to clarify, more are being ordered but there is a certain lead time in the manufacturing process, so they wont be with me for a few weeks yet. Hopefully, at that point everyone on the list will be served, and maybe a few more left over.

One thing i feel i must re-emphasize, Wayne has sunk his own money into this, and in the interest of good stewardship of his finances, I will not be sending anything out until payment is made (or cash/cheque on delivery), but please dont send anything until asked to, or it will confuse me! (besides which, it WILL NOT bump you up the list just by paying me quickly). I will be collecting the UK money on behalf of Wayne, so payments will need to be to me/my bank.

Edit at 1700 hrs on 06/04/13

To allow for Denny (who i had missed out  ) straight in at Number 9 on the Hit parade!

Also, Hodge, who is able to collect at Donington

Right then - progess has been made.....

....I've been in conversation (electronically!) with Wayne, and a next batch will be ordered to cover outstanding orders, and *maybe* a few extras (but no promises, as SOMEONE has to fund the costs).

There are a couple of plates with a different logo print finish - not worse, just slightly different - one has arrived here and one in the US. There is a plan to get matching pairs swapped accross the pond, but the current state of play is that I have 14 good sets in front of me, all with sticky stuff on them - so ready(ish) to go to their new owners.

I have consolidated the old list with the new list, and slightly re-jigged it so that the order they now appear is the order in which people originally supported this project from its inception - I feel that is the fairest way to proceed with processing orders....

...that said, special mention should go to John (BCN) and Wayne - both of whom got in early, but have offered to drop down the list so that others can be accomodated in the initial stages - especially generous when it is Wayne who has made all of this happen

As previously stated, it is my intention to fulfil orders in the right order - but preference WILL be given to those which I can hand deliver at Donington ('cos it makes my life easier!).

Just in case anyone thinks they can 'beat the system' by saying they aint going, and thus getting their set posted (if they're high enough up the list) - it wont work, as I'm not posting any until after the show - that way, if someone decides between now and 2 weeks time that they can get to the show, they will get theirs in preference to any posted later. I will have the 'spare' sets with me for such an eventuality, and to use as 'demos' if anyone is undecided - rest assured, if their names not on the list, they wont get served in preference to those already committed, but will join onto the end and have them posted out in due course.

We are hopefull that the new order will be on a shortish timeframe, so everyone who is on the list should be sorted within a week or 2 of each other.

Please do not ask Wayne to send any sets out individually at this stage (although that may change later) as the postal system may not be as reliable as the system we are now using to get them into the UK, and it would only need one or two sets to be lost or damaged on the international leg for the whole project to end up in a financial defecit - this is NOT a money-making exercise - it is for everyone's benefit.

That's why I have still got some left - i was carrying all that extra weight around the whole weekend  (don't worry - you're not the only one!!!)

Paul,

As stated earlier, if I couldn't distribute at Donington, I feel that i have to revert to the original order in which confirmed interest was indicated (in accordance with 'The List'). As such, the 3 pairs i still have here will be sent out to Cliff, Denny and DaveB - once payment is received here.

Wayne is expecting the next (final) sets to be finished and sent to him within 14 days, so once they get here (another 4 days) i will be asking for payment at that stage and sending them out.

Highwayman Pat and his red van want £6.30 for the postage, plus packaging, so it would be £7 or so 2nd class :( (it is 3" too long to be a 'small' parcel)

Using Parcel2Go it is a much more palatable £2.50+VAT (3 quid) + a cardboard tube (a quid) - so the postage will be £4 a set (discounted for more than 1 set, but I'll give an accurate price when i weigh the parcels up - hopefully it won't actually be any more to send 2 or 3 sets, but I'm unsure where the price breaks fall for Parcel2Go

Just for info....

As stated above I did only order 10 sets of the brushed parts. So looking at the list they are all sold.
Although there are still a few more polished sets available.

At the time I placed the order there was very little interest in the brushed parts. I can hopefully order more in the future.
Earlier today I did get a very unusual email from the sales lady say that she had resigned...

I have since been in touch with her manager who assures me that everything is Ok with the order. Due to this info I am not willing to order any more parts untill I recieve the latest order. I have suguested a different shipping method and for them to include a couple of extra brushed sets to offset the cost.

I will update when I recieve the parts

Merv,

You've sucessfully confused me now (not difficult at the best of times) - there is room for you on the brushed list (where i put your name), and now you're added to the polished list as well.....

...not a problem if you want both, or either type, just let me know before i pack them all up in parcels!
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?
