Mine has an MG ZR leather gear knob on which go for about £6 on ebay (this example is on a BIN for a lot more than you need to pay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0003148825 ). It just screwed on though I think it was designed to push on but if you screw it it cuts its own threads. Its a perfect fit if you want a cheap hard wearing alternative - they crop up quite often on e bay. It doesnt have any MG markings on it.

Paul, for the inexperienced (that would be me) can you help me understand how the gear knob is removed? What I'm most interested in is if you need to pull up the skirt (sounds risky!) of the shifter to get at the screws on the shifter and/or knob. And, how you'd do that (and get it back together) easily. Does the leather stay up on the new knob or does it need some tape or modificaitons?

Also, the brake handle looks pretty nice too! How'd you manage that (and with what part)? Thanks!

The gearknob & handbrake are basically the same, you have to release the metal frame at the other end of the leather cover, then pull all the leather over the knob or handbrake, & you will see a cable tie holding in position in a groove, snip cable tie & voila, it all comes off. If you havn't got a groove on the bottom of your new knob, then you will need a sleeve, as discussed on previous page. Handbrake parts were discussed 3 or 4 posts ago .

Paul, i quoted the part number at a parts shop for the MOMO adaptor and they did'nt recognise the number. You do'nt know what car make i should be looking for. I'm guessing the handbrake will be the same make of another car. Cheers for your time Holty!

Or you can skip attaching the leather cover to the gear knob so some of the shaft is exposed. Cue dirty jokes here... Here's a pic of my Momo. I like the "flat" cover look more than stock, actually.
