glue melting on dashboard

Postby jko37 » Tue 26.04.2011, 10:50

Hello everyone,

i am new on this forum,i live in Belgium
I saw an elan for sale, and noticed a strange thing on the dashboard...

On the side where the airco switch is located, there is different plastic screw covers, around some of them there is a sticky leak like "melted" glue has leaked .
The owner told me that it happens because the plastic screw covers are placed with simple glue, and because of the sun heat when driving with the roof open, the glue happen to melt...

does this seem like "normal" thing that might happen?

sorry for my bad english and thanks a lot in advance for your help ;-)

Steve

Oh yes it's normal. The factory used a brown glue that never really seemed to harden.
When I got my car there was a puddle of it at the base of the dash.
