Which seat when?

I've looked briefly at other posts but still probably missed something that tells me...
I'm trying to understand the different versions of the Elan M100 with a view to buying one sometime soon. I'm seeing seats with bold horizontal bands (red or yellow) , some with check pattern and some quite plain with coloured piping. Which seat style came when?

the seats are in 3 styles really
the bold stripe is the full leather option for the SE
the check/tartan style are the half leather options for the SE
the leather (grey/black or cream) with piping are the later S2 versions (IFAIK there was no cloth option for the S2)

Don't forget that the SE had 2 seat trim types in leather. Some had the stripe (usually red but I seem to recall some had yellow as well?) and those that were the solid raven gray leather. Plenty of people have had there's retimed over the years.

I think every car had raven gray standard unless it was red or yellow body colour. Those two colours had the red or yellow stripes either standard (I think) or as an option.

And after 20 odd years several that have bespoke upholstery.

Incidentally, carpet for the SE's was either Red, Grey (though this now appears rather brown/mauve) or yellow.

And I think that that is the sum of the interior options!

Yep - the S2 came with Cloth Seats but most opted for the leather upgrade.

Strangely Pete ... the grey carpets in my 1992 SE still look like new ... it was one of the first things I noticed when I bought it.

Elanman was referring to the list of exterior paint colours, not interior trim colours.
I concur. NMY & Black are missing. I've definitely seen Elan SEs which are yellow or black & these definitely left the factory like that.

The Parts book lists 4 types

Half leather/ Cloth
Full Striped leather
Full leather S1 (No Stripe)
Full leather S2

I've seen a blue Elan re-trimmed with blue stripe interior. I think it was an improvement.
I'm not a fan of the striped theme anyway. My choice of interior colour was a little unusual

The only S2 I know in LEC with leather/cloth seats was John's(M100 TWO) cranberry red one, know owned by Alan up here in Scotland.

I have now for my sins, 2 x 1991 SE's.

The Yellow one Yellow band on seats and door insert with yes matching yellow carpets.

The Blue one Raven grey seat bands with gray banded door inserts with matching grey carpets, all of which look origional.

DB we must try to catch up at Oulton Park!
