Hi again
I removed the centre console to check the handbrake switch. On removing the plastic squares that cover the screws that hold the centre console I noticed that the front driver's side screw had been cut around, on closer inspection the screw just went round and round. I assume the console was cut to allow its removal. I assume that mounting is loose. Is it possible to take the screw out and secure the threaded portion so the centre console does not stick up on the drivers side?

Your assumptions are correct the nut should be fixed. I'm not sure what sort of nut it is - which indicates the repair approach.
I'll be taking mine off in the next few days so will take a look.
