Air vent removal

Hi one of the air vents in my centre console above the radio has broken and I’m wanting to remove it to fix/replace. Can someone point me to or provide guidance on how to remove and refit please. I’ve got a replacement in case it can’t be fixed but can’t see how they are fixed in. Drivers side is rock solid but the other has a bit of movement but don’t want to just attempt to pull it out. Thanks for any help you can provide.

As far as I recall from when I last had the instrument panel out, they are a push fit into the panel and then into the ducting. I seem to remember mine came out fairly easily with the aid of a plastic trim tool on the LHS and RHS edges. Certainly no screws were involved, and you should be able to get them out without removing the entire instrument panel (I had mine out for another reason).

On my Left Hand Drive version at least, the back of the vents are held in with a bit of glue inside the throat of the supply duct, while there is also a metal collar around the outside of the duct, pushed up to the back of the vent to make a friction fit.
On mine, the glue had gone soft so I was just able to work out the vent from the front...
Depending on your ability to reach around to the backside of the duct/vent, you may be able to feel the metal collar/plate and push it back down the duct. That should make it looser around the back of the vent to maybe work the vent loose by rocking it back and forth?

Somebody on the forum (I forget who) used to have a signature strapline along the lines of “Reassembly is the reverse of removal - but you swear in different places”
