Hi

Just discovered the following : enclosed pickys

Astra Chrome Trim rings from www.irmscher-bits.com

These fit your 3 gauges and dont really need glue to fit they just press
into recess of the round gauge, but put a blob of glue just to be sure.

The Chrome rings come as a kit but you will need to order 2 as one has a square bit at THE BOTTOM.

You can also bid for them on E-bay got mine for £10

Pickies now attached to give an idea; When I purchased the car it had
a Chrome gear lever and handbrake grip; Must getter a better Camera
as the photos taken dont really do justice to the effect.

looking at the pic though wont you get 2 round ones and one with a flattened edge??

I would like to see a picture of them in place too as I can't really see them fitting in with the rest of the car interior.... I stand to be proven wrong

Sounds like a good idea to me

anything to break up all the black plastic.

Love to see a pic if you get a chance.

I always wanted to chrome the bits inside my MINI but it was always in being fixed LOL. The new ones have chrome all over the place. :roll:

Silly question, but do these heater rings fit round the heater controls on the Elan, or just the dial gauges as suggested? (since we only have two heater dials anyway, would only need one set for this)

Morning All,

I got myself a couple of sets of these Chrome rings this week, I checked them last night and have a few answers to the about questions:

1) They look really good and really dont look out of place with the car although at the moment the only chrome bits.

2) They wont fit the heater controls unless you cut off the location diameter and glue them in place.

3) They aren't a press fit, you need to glue them in place but it all comes with it.

4) The rings with the flat on actually look pretty good, i think 3 of the flat ones would not look as good as the round would still look nice.

5) They are plated plastic, the chrome plate is very good though.

Theres a place pretty local that by chance i came across. When i told him they fit the Elan but you need 2 sets he said if anyone wanted to talk about a group but they could get a discount....

Will be fitting them tonight and hopefully will get some photos up either at the weekend or my prefered surfing time of Week days :wink:

Quick Tip. Glue them with a "PRIT STICK TUBE" of glue DO NOT USE THE GLUE THAT COMES WITH KIT LOOK UP THREAD "PUSH THE BUTTON" FOR PICTURE of the Three rings in place.

Hi john

I have to say i cant understand why you would want to use a different glue?

I put the rings on Friday night and i found putting a generous bead of the BLACK glue that came with them perfect.

You really need to tape them in position because they tend to move while setting. 6 hours later and they look great IMO.

Im going to remove the inner lip on the other rings and see what they look like on the fan controls.
