Hi,
I am thinking to make a copy of the Lotus M100 oil cooler because I can't find any for a normal price and the ones from aftermarket Iam not interested.
Is someone else interested in a new oil cooler? This could help to get a better price.

Interesting!
But... If you have one made... would that not then be 'after market'as well?

I'm asking because I have absolutely no idea of the answer, but wouldn't you need some sort of license to overcome copyright issues?

When Iam doing it only for me and M100 friends, no
When Iam doing it for earning money there is a time (some years) where it is not allowed to copy things but after this time has past you can produce it. Thats why you can buy parts from different companys and on this kind of item there are no patents

A replacement oil cooler for the M100 has already been done and apparently it fits. No need to re-invent the wheel.
Try a search for Coolex oil cooler on here. I believe they may offer LEC a discount.

Spud, I don't see it as any issue from a copywrite point of view - Lotus purely modified an existing 'standard' radiator with the brackets welded on (probably braised, actually!).
I found it easy enough to fabricate the brackets and attach them to fit the existing mounting points, using 'off the shelf' parts for the radiator and fittings.... there isn't too much work involved in creating a bespoke item from an existing radiator - if there is the desire/market for it.
