Hiya,
I'm afraid I just can't work this out despite having trawled the forum and read the wiki article, I must just be being dense.
I have an SE, with a 9929 I think. I want to convert to closed loop running, I know I need an O2 sensor and wiring. I intend to buy a mountain chips V5 switcher kit.
Do I need to buy a closed loop ECM off the aftersales list? Will I also need a closed loop Memcal? If so will the closed loop ECM come with one?
I'm sure the answer is straightforward, I just can't see the wood for the trees.
Thanks,
Will

Billy: The Mountain chip will make any turbo ECM into a closed loop system, so you don't need anything but the O2 sensor, wiring (if not already installed) and the replacement memcal system (from Mountain).
You need to check that the wires from the O2 sensor make it to the ECM. On some cars there are a few wires missing between connectors.

Only if you specify it when you order from Alan - he will put whatever 'maps' you want on the switcher at the same price - i had 8 closed loop and 8 open loop maps when i fitted the O2 sensor, but before that i had 16 open loop maps (8 each for the 9929 & 9930 chips).....
....basically, I suspect you would probably want 1499 maps and 9930 maps??????

Billy
The advantage of the switcher chip is you can switch from closed loop to open loop if (when?) the O2 sensor fails, and therefore keep driving, so you need to specify to Mountain Chips what programmes you want: as Dave says 1499 (closed) and 9930 (open).
No need to change the ECM, just add the chip.
Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks BCN, Dave, John, that's very helpful - it is clear on the wiki, I just wasn't certain it was correct as I thought I needed a closed loop ECM into which to put the mountain chip.
Cheers,
Will
