Autostyle Wind deflector

Postby mitreklov » Thu 27.02.2014, 23:41

I'm not sure if this is a good find or not but I thought I'd share it.

I just acme across these Autostyle wind deflectors for the Elan being sold on Amazon UK for £46 and if you have a Prime account, delivered next day!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/AutoStyle-1055- ... B00BIOG40M

I've ordered one that should be with me on Saturday, I'll post a review once I've seen what the quality and fit is like.

Let's hope the sun comes out soon so I can try it!

The photo used on Amazon is taken directly from the fitting instructions for the Classic Additions deflector for the M100. One of the Classic Additions fitting instructions also references it as "1055". (there are two fitting instructions - no idea why)

If a Classic Additions one is what you get then you've got yourself an absolute bargain. Well done!

The AutoStyle wind deflector ordered from Amazon arrived today and it does appear to be the same item that Classic Additions sell for £186 (which is ridiculously overpriced anyway).
Fitted it and went for a spin this afternoon, very pleased.
I did check back on Amazon today and noticed that there is now a 1-2 month delivery on them but still at £46, when I ordered mine on Thursday there were 8 available.

Totally agree it's still a fantastic bargain, but don't forget Classic Additions were offering LEC a special price of 130 pounds incl delivery.

Nice stuff for that price.

My one turned up last week, pretty simple to fit and it's amazing what a difference it makes!

Re: Autostyle Wind deflector - expensive but worthwhile

Postby johnr101 » Sat 22.11.2014, 15:56

After speaking to other M100 owners got one of these. Had to pay about £150 ( which seems a lot of money for a screen on a bit of bent metal tubing).
But having said that it makes a huge difference, far less buffeting behind the head and warmer too.
On return from French touring holiday did 480 miles in a day with the hood down. A bit wearing, but probably would not have contemplated it without the deflector.

can someone post pics of the instalation.

not a how to but just where it sits and where it folds when the hood is up

the pics reminded me of the MGf deflector, seems similar to me (probably because i never paid attention to details) i was wondering if scrappy plus elbow grease and a bit of ingenuity could work....

Check this out. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=9245&p=171147&hilit=classic+additions#p171137

And this. download/file.php?id=8474

I have one, the good points are: very simple to instal and it does reduce the wind considerably, the downside is that it ain't cheap and IMHO it damages the look of the car, I had intended to remove it on the hottest days but never bothered it's been in situ now for 3 or 4 years!

It's definitely worth getting one. It doesn't get in the way of the hood (although it would be good if it could be folded down so at least you could see out of the rear window clearly). Nethertheless it is easy to unscrew and I just stick mine behind the seats or in the boot if I have the hood up for any length of time.

Although I agree it's not the best looking thing and I admit even I removed it when showing my car!

Hi: go to the Classic Additions website and read their installation instructions for the deflector. There is a pdf instruction file for each car model they can supply one for. It will show exactly how it is mounted. Also look at your car : the map pocket behind/between the seats on the rear panel is held on with 2 small bolts: it is these which hold the deflector in place. I will try to come in my car on 11th Dec and I have one fitted: you can then see at first hand how it goes on. It is fixed, not folding, and does not get in the way of the hood at all, but as Kathryn points out rear visibility with hood up is a bit obstructed.

If you order one from Classic Additions, do it by phone and quote your LEC membership: you'll get a discount : I think I paid £130 for mine incl vat and delivery last year. They have also appeared occasionally on Amazon for just over £100 I think.

EDIT PS I also have one (ex MGF) fitted to my old S4: (sacrilege I hear you say, but it works very well!!)

Thanks for the tip, the second link from epipete was exactly what i wanted to see, after all, 1 image is worth a 1000 words.
i recall the MGF deflector in my car folded back, it may have been a bad instalation or it did fold by design (tbh i can believe either, the car wasnt in the best of shape anyway)

i was thinking a deflector that folded back can go into the hood compartment when the hood is up easily, basically this is another one of those little things to queue up on my wish list.
