Everest Chip S2

Postby V8vroom » Wed 09.09.2015, 15:34

Hi all, did a search but didn't come up with anything... anyone put a stock V4 Everst Chip in their otherwise standard S2? If so can you report on the subjective difference in acceleration / torque---- I have a 360 Modena so I know what fast acceleration is and at present the Elan S2 feels more like my daily driver a Suzuki Swift Sport (0-60 8 secs??) - it would be nice for it to feel quick rather than 'warm'
Anyone want to admit what the increase in insurance has been? (currently for me paying around £150 with a well known Norfolk insurer!!)

all best

Hi
Can't comment on first part fully as I have an SE, but have driven it with and without the Everest Chip and I could definitely tell the difference: much brighter, more responsive and a much more get up and go feeling. BUT I don't drive a Modena, so my benchmarks are slightly different.

With regards to the insurance, mine is on a classic policy and the Everest chip made no difference: I asked them to quote with or without it: same price.

What's happening on the boost gauge when you floor it ? And is the turbo working OK ? I know when I picked up my 1st M100 I was a bit disappointed compared to my Golf GTi but it was soon confirmed by the garage that the wastegate actuator was sticky. A quick "wastegate wiggle" with pliers sorted that out in seconds and the car was transformed . No problems since but an Everest chip does make huge difference in performance adding a reputed extra 35 bhp, taking it from 165bhp in the SE to 200bhp. Not sure of figures for the S2 though

The Everest chip has made no difference to either of my premiums. I am also on a limited miles, classic car insurance scheme

Great - sounds like a no brainer!

It does feel quick on boost although I believe it's a well known fact that although it's only 10bhp down on the SE its noticeably slower esp to 100 mph (where legal  )
The 360 has 400 bhp so is clearly in a different league but the Élan holds its own in the smile factor driving to work on a sunny day on some twisties! The 360 doesn't get to commute!!!!
Sounds like I need to get myself a chip and with the instructions online should be a fairly straightforward fit once the glove box is open?
I just need to see if Kelvedon can work out where my oil leak is coming from as they couldn't find a cause a few weeks ago! Happy Lotus Days :) :)

If you empty the pre-cat, (or ditch the main cat) figures should approx. be the same for the S2 as well.
You definitely should notice the difference, even when your S2 is completely stock!

If you want a more snappy ride:

Bigger exhaust
Downpipe without pre-cat
Loose main cat
Everest or switcher chip
Wastegate port
Clean or swap injectors
set proper base timing
+some details...

:porn: :burnout:

and off you go!

Dead easy to fit:
With the ECU out & end cover off, you will see the MEMCAL which can be removed. The MEMCAL plugs into your new chip & then the chip plugs into the board. It will be obvious when you see it.

Oh yeah... Oil leak:
Check CAS and blind plug seals in the head. They tend to leak.
Replace with viton..,

I have an Everest chip in my otherwise totally stock S2 .. and whilst I don't have a F360 to compare it too, I can compare it to my track prepared S2 Exige.

The little M100 with the chip is "zippy", it definitely feels initially more lively than the Exige .. however once the Exige hits 5500 rpm, the M100 quickly disappears in the rear view mirror.

.. and it eats Suzuki Swift's for breakfast :burnout:

It's the top version of mountain chips. Check it out on link at top under v4&v5 switcher kit.

very good Andy! It's a Swift Sport so reasonably nippy - providing you keep revs aboue 5000rpm!! I thought it's FWD handling was excellent - until I drove the Elan S2 which just seems to corner in another world!!!!!!!!

If you have Elanscan, then this will tell you.
If you have an S2 then you should have a 1499.
