Bargin Wind Deflector

Postby JusNoGood » Mon 28.05.2018, 10:35

After admiring all your wind deflectors on Saturday I clicked on the Amazon wind defector. £154 as usual. I then spotted a "there is alternative. £23.27". Clicked on that. Same model and same picture of a defector in a Elan. It's coming tomorrow  If it's not the right thing I can always send it back to Amazon and get a full refund. Worth a punt 8)

I'll report back whether it's the right one tomorrow evening. There was only one available, so none now, but I'd suggest if you are after one it's well worth checking back every now and then so see if they pop up.

This is the £154 one I originally clicked on. You can see a "there is a newer model - currently unavailable" underneath.

My 'temporary' £4 kiddies sun screen is still going strong after 5 years but I picked up one of the Amazon bargains a couple of years ago for £73.

In October, 2016 an observant LEC member posted a crazy discounted offer for the Wieland 1055 Custom-Fit Cabrio Wind Shield that was on sale on Amazon UK.

I figured I would get one, but when I looked at the price (£12.11), I decided I could justify two:

The GBP was $1.28 to the USD back then.

 there I was thinking I’d got a good deal. I feel ripped off now JC!

Was it ok and did it come with all required fixings?

Since the car is still being reassembled, (it sucks when you get sick) they are sitting in the warehouse portion of the shop. They are exactly what everyone else has been buying, just discounted because it was the "end of the season".

Yes, being sick does suck. My father had a stroke in Feb. He's was the most positive sociable person I've ever known and now he cant talk properly :( I just sold his Mini Moke that he has had since 1987! End on a era.

Received the defector today. Definitely the same as everyone else. I've not got a map pocket so I'll have to measure it out and install it tomorrow :) I decided at the weekend to swap over the seats, so the almost unused passenger seat is now my drivers seat, while doing it I removed the spacers, which has made a big difference. While I'm not the tallest person (5'11) I found I was looking directly at the sun visor and the top of my head was being blasted by wind turbulence all the way back from Castle Coombe. So that and the wind deflector should make a huge difference :-D

Be aware the outside rear spacer is thicker than the other 3. Fit a washer of thickness corresponding to the difference to keep the seat level and remove stress from frame / floor.

Thanks, yes I had been thinking about that and what to do. I'll have another look. Only got the driver seat in at the moment as I'm fiddling with the heater.

Not much of a hat person. I must say I've not used the visor and dont think I ever will. If the sun is shining I have the roof down and the sun is typically shining in my eyes from above the window frame  Also, was annoying driving at 70 and it dropping down in front of me all the time too.

The standard mod to firm up the visors is to unscrew the hinges and wrap tape round the spindles.

I can't believe that any hat you purchased to fit over your extended hair (as per time of car purchase) would weigh less than the sunvisor you removed.....

Justin,

Very similar - I was going to put a 'realistic picture' of him with hat, but I'm sure that some of the 'Muricans would think I was having a go at the 45th incumbent of the Oval Office.......

.... so have this instead.

A bit old thread, but I'm curious about the quality and fitment of that wind deflector.
