CLEMO'S BOOT RELEASE

Postby clemo » Sat 23.07.2005, 14:41

CLEMO'S SUPER BOOT RELEASE...

for this you will need .

1 x bike brake cable.
1 x electrical block connector.
2 core wire.
fuse.
spade connectors.
1 x saab boot release mecanism or door central locking mech.
1 x saab boot switch.

tools.
wire cutters
drill.
screwdrivers.

first you must work out where you want your boot opening switch to be.
as shown mine is in the door.. my reason for choosing here is that it is hidden by the seat (when the roof is down) .

I then removed my door card to fit the switch .
i then to a 2 core wire through the door , door hinge cable trunk, along the sill and drilled a small hole in the door slam post , under the carpet where it cannot be seen and hooked the wire up into the battery compartment.

i then took the wire up to the battery (using one side of the wire for the power) as shown and put an inline fuse in. at this point it is attatched to the battery and then snt on its way to the boot , passing under the plastic battery cover surround and up and through the rubber gromit .. now we are in the boot.

from the boot i used some plastic covering to keep in neat and tidy i take the wire up to the rear of the SAAB boot mechanism (which is double sided number plate taped to the inside of the boot lid.

Clemo
sounds good, can you give us some more info on the Saab module, is it a soleniod or central locking motor? and what models is it from, I want to do this as I have a spare channel on my alarm fob. Also can you send me a picture of how you connected it to the Elan lock.

Cheers

Neil's boot IIRC. Probably an old photo of that hanging around somewhere too.

I can't believe I asked you for details on how to do this and only installed my version two years ago  I used an Audi A3 8L boot lock motor mounted near the boot interior light and a custom made boot lock bracket

I can't believe i totally lost this thread .. it was in my managed attachments.

it had TEST TEST TEST CLEMO'S BOOT RELEASE as the title .

This was on my old car from yonks ago. it was a little mechanical release arm that i attached a looped bike brake cable around the eye on the boot lock . So when the button was pressed it would give the loop lever a little 1inch tug thus releasing the boot. I can't even remember which type of SAAB it came from now. Though if i did it in 2005 i guess that will now be a rare car now too.

Think i may well for one to JC when it comes back.
