last time I bought a pair I paid £130....(for the pair...not each )
I got them first off as I was getting 4 and the tyre guy got them for me at £45 each

Michelin Pilot Exalto (PE2) 205/45R16 83V: the only ones recommended by Lotus - £98.84 all in at Cabot Tyres (Bristol).

Goodyear F1 Eagle (GSD3 I think). £90 a corner including fitting (Kwikfit did an internet pricematch with a quote I got from blackcircles).

I've been thinking of going with something in the "High Performance All-Season" category. A) It rains (and snows) in Colorado unpredictably, and B) I'll be on the track maybe 1% of the time in this car. All-Season seems like a fair trade-off. I'm waiting for a great price before I jump. (What else is new with this cheap bastard?)

Right now I'm looking at the BF Goodrich Super Sport A/S vs. Yokohama Avid H4S. Goodrich are more expensive, but seem to be better in every way (figures).

Yeah, I got caught too...it turns out that it is this time of year that a lot of manufacturers put their prices up...

I tried a few of my 'contacts' but still ended up at Camskill...

If you do find anyone cheaper...tell everyone else...just don't tell me!!

Cheap they ain't, but Lotus recommends Pirelli P Zero Nero. These are definitely a 3+ season tire - they carry an "M+S" rating on the sidewall. I have a set on Smaug and they seem to be doing OK. Since I'm in a drier clime, I'd prefer something more aggressive myself, but if I was in Colorado I'd definitely consider them.

The last six months in the tyre trade has seen prices rocket. The two main factors are; 1) currency, the weak pound is killing imports. 2) Supply. The UK market is so price concious that many manufacturers do not want to supply into this country, and prefer more lucrative markets elswhere. This is begining to take effect and the only way to fill orders is to pay the asking price, or wait for tyres that never arrive!!
Production from many European manufacturers was reduced when Chinese tyres flooded in. Although Chinese factories were closed for the Olympic Games (polution) and didn't re-open this didn't really help because World wide OEM business had collapsed by then, and European factories had laid off many of their staff. They are not about to reverse this any time soon. Malaysia (the Worlds largest natural rubber producer) is cutting supply to push prices up.
Tyres I order today could be 8-12 weeks before shipping + 4 weeks on the water. Unless I "forward buy" currency I have no idea what the true landed cost will be, and hence the "sudden" price increase which is passed on to the retailer.
All very confusing and boring, but the truth of the matter is "get the best deal available on the day"

But I got them from Laws Tyres in Aberdeen for £106 each, fitted and balanced. That was the best price by about £15-£20 around here.

I bought them because (as well as Lotus specifying them - they also specify P Zeros) I've had them on my 15" wheels and liked them. I also bought them now because as the £ has gone to pot, I expect the price to go up.

No idea what they handle like as the decorating dominatrix hasn't let me fit them to the car yet.
