Hello Everyone,
I just thought I would let you all know that Toyo Tyres have today started to sell their new tyre the R1R in their motorsport range. This is a more everyday motorsport tyre with similar levels of grip as the R888 but much better in the wet.
I have just ordered a set for my Elan SE turbo which is fitted with the federal 16 inch alloys and they should be with me on monday to fit..........can't wait to try them out!!!!
If there is lots of interest I will see if I can arrange a good discount for everyone if you all want to do a group buy. I should have some prices next week.
I will put some photos up when I have fitted them.
Kind regards
James and Ellie

Excellent news. I saw these in the Toyo Catalogue on the SWLC stand at Donington the year before last and had assumed they had simply not made it to market. I'll be fitting 4 new tyres towards the end of this year, these are likely to be my first choice.

They have been out in other countries for ages, we seem to be the last to get them, I looked at getting some from Japan but it was just not that cost effective.

Hello,
Right I have spoken to Toyo, my tyres are arriving tomorrow so as soon as I have fitted them I will put some photos on and give you an update on how I find them.
With regards to the price's this doesn't have to be a group buy as I have managed to get them as cheap as possible. The price is £100.00+VAT each (retail price £135.00+VAT) and I can offer free delivery on 4 tyres to a buisness address.
Cant wait to fit mine and start doing some track days!!!!
Let me know if anyone is interested.
Regards
James

are the R1R tyres available in the original 205/45-16 size? Or did you have to go to a 215-45 or some other size?

As far as I can see they are available in 205/45/16 so are a straight forward replacement fitment on 16" (S2 or Federal) rims.

camskill have them listed but have to contact them for price.
They look a good tyre but if RRP is £135 can`t see them competing with the 888`s

This is suposed to be a much better track tyre for wet weather use, and if you look at the R888 prices ther have gone up alot in price this year already. I am going to try and do a few miles this week and weekend.

The price is good.
Camskill are £135 delivered and they are normally the cheapest place around.
Toyo say on thier website they are half way between a T1R and R888 with good wet grip.
probably a good all weather tyre for the road and track but as Monty said, they can't be as good as the R888 at 2/3 of the price.
But they look very interesting at that price!

Good tyre!
I used them last year 3 days on the circuit and they give good grip.

I have had the tyres on the car for about a week now and did a good long drive at the weekend. So far the tyres have had excellent levels of grip right from the start. Could just do with some wet weather to see how they cope.
I will let you know how I get on.

thats a good price - What profiles for a 15" wheel? I have R888s on some wheels I am about to fit but have considered swapping to this new tyre due to have similar grip levels in dry but having the wet characteristics the R888s don't.
