OZ Wheels Choice of 2 for my SE

Postby IanB1978 » Fri 31.08.2018, 16:11

I am looking at getting either:
16 x 7, 4 x 100, offset 42, Superturismo GTs with 205/45/16 tyres

17 x 7, 4 x 100 offset, 37 or 42 Italia 150 with 205/40/17 tyres

Will both sets of wheels fit my SE? And would 17s ruin ride?

The Superturismo's are lovely, I like these ones....https://www.rimstyle.com/alloywheels/wh ... gJGtvD_BwE . Although the offset is a bit low at 42.

Personally I wouldn't put 17's on an Elan, some will totally disagree and that's fine with me but I have had different sets of 17's on 2 different Elans
I have had in the past just to see how it compared and it felt awful, although you might have no issues, best thing to do if you are set on 17's is to
try and find a set you can test first and make your mind up from that.

For a more comfortable ride, the 15" are great, 16" are very good, but I find the 17" a bit harsh for my old bones..... all down to the sidewall depth to keep the right rolling circumference.

My red car came with 17's, I found that it was good to drive on a track, but for the road, I put the 15's back on.

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually.....

I had 17's . It didn't agree with the inside of the wheel arch liners very much . Though that was down to the wider width . was a bumpy ride also.
Jim Clark S2 on the way . The one with the Yellow spoke wheels .
