Measure the new discs you got and make sure they match the specs I listed. If they do, they should be fine.

Looks like you can get those MDC266 discs here as well for about £2.50 cheaper ;-)

Agreed, but then to have to pay to ship them to Canada or the US, they are not as appealing. Rock Auto has a few brands that are around $8.00 each

is the hub and disc pictured here suppose to fit like this? as you can see the hub does not slide into the disc the disc matches those specs. the pictures posted here of how to take it off do not show the new hub on the car before the disc it looks like the disc slides over the hub and bolted together. if so it seems it's either a really tight fit or the disc recommended is too small.

Here's mine on an MDC266 disc. It sits right inside:

P1030134.jpg

I don't quite understand why yours would be too small - if the disc is a 4x100, then the holes are going to be spaced the same as the hub.

For it not to fit, the hub its intended to fit would be so thin as to be unsafe.

Whats the iron-coloured ring on yours with all the engraving on it - should that be removed? It looks like there is a cutaway for such a ring on the disc I've got. Perhaps on yours that ring is meant to pull out and then be put back on again?

You have it upside down. I can't see how it fits.

email me your phone number

Front side should look like this:

Send a picture of the hub you got from front and rear angles and maybe from the side?

MEASURE THE DISC AND CONFIRM IT IS CORRECT! ARE BOTH DISCS THE SAME?

Ok it says on that ring min thickness .421 so maybe it can be shaved down and then this hub will slide in. the bolts line up. thoughts. it's almost 1/2 an inch not sure what .421 is all i have is a tape measure not very good.

.421 inch is approx 10mm? Referring to the minimum thickness of the disc, but seems a bit high. And oddly exact.

I'd just bite the bullet, get the MDC266 discs that we know fit, send these back and do the fitting yourself which will save you the cost of the shipping? Its really easy imho, especially compared to some other jobs.

Just found this:

Technical info :
MINTEX : BRAKE DISCS
MINTEX

MDC266
(1) Diameter [mm] 236
(2) Height [mm] 41
(3) Thickness [mm] 12.5
(4) Minimum Thickness [mm] 9.7
(5) Disc Type Solid

…9.7mm is .38 inches…..

Popular cross references :
APEC DSK117
BENDIX 561158B
BOSCH 0986478081
BREMBO 08447510
FERODO DDF116
NATIONAL NBD004
QUINTON HAZELL BDC3388

Maybe some of those help?

…I did this while looking for the weight, so I could tell you that if you want me to ship you a set of MDC266 discs my couriers would charge me £35.25 GBP. Not the best.

The opening for the hub to sit in is around 4.73 inches or 120.1mm If your disc isn't, then you got the wrong part. I don't know howm many posts with the full measurements we have to send to you.

The question is, IS THE HUB WRONG or the disc? Mistakes happen. Without some help on your part, we can't figure out what is wrong. You don't post any useful pictures and don't confirm any measurements.

WHAT IS THE DIAMETER OF THE DISC YOU GOT? WHAT IS THE DIAMETER OF THE OPENING THAT FORMS THE HAT? HAVE YOU TRIED BOTH DISCS?

The hub isn't wrong, I've installed it to the car and driven it - only out the unit and back in again. I am sure others have installed them by now, I would have heard if there was a problem.

It's quite simple really. If the hub won't slide into the top hat of the disc so it sits flush against the inside face of the top hat lid, and so that you can then screw in the small bolt (provided with the hubs) through the countersunk hole in the disc into the hub, then you have the wrong discs.

Just to confirm Jeemy's fit, I've just put my hubs and Mintex MDC266 together and they are a perfect fit. Did it in 1 minute on the kitchen floor.

If you are still baffled, give the hubs and discs to your garage, who could quickly assemble them and confirm within no time whether the discs are right or wrong.

Calm down Jamie. I am not suggesting I think you hubs are off spec, but I have seen CNC machined parts vary due to a lot of different reasons AND hand turned parts always need to be measured to be certain. I have also received boxed parts from suppliers that have the right part number but the wrong part inside, Without measurements, there is absolutely no way to know what is right or wrong. If he just measures the face of the hub and the opening in the hat, everything will be explained. One will be too wide or too narrow.

There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY DJ should have the discs machined to allow the hubs to fit. I believe he will find the disc in the box is wrong or the manufacturer made a bad batch. He should be able to go to his NAPA store and they will measure the discs for him.

Not uncalm, just saying the hubs are fine mate. I don't for a moment suspect, having handled 50 of them, that there is any variation in size.

Trying to help the guy out but I am struggling, the disc is not one of the ones I recommended, or have heard of. Its pretty clear it doesn't hit the 120.1 'hat opening'.

I don't see why it has a ring of different material at that opening either, I've never seen that and can't imagine why it wouldn't be a single piece of material. Happy to bow out at that.

DJ: After looking at my GM discs, I agree: You got the wrong discs.

These are pictures of a set of discs I got from Rock Auto (Part # 0802269) for $8.24 each. Even with shipping, they would be cheaper than the ones NAPA got you which are WRONG.

Rock Auto currently has Part # PRT1418 which is a Premium Bendix brand disc for $7.34 each. Using a Vancouver postal code, the total price for two is $47.69 including shipping.

Your disc (what little I can see) looks completely different.

Thanks for your help. sorry I haven't posted better pictures or measurements. I've lost the receipt for these so I'm prob screwed on returning them. the measurements seem right from what you posted but tape measure not that accurate. it's like I need about 1mm and it would be fine.

If you could send me the ones you can get I'll pay the shipping ect ect....whenever I go to parts store and tell them what car I have i always get a bewildered look from the employees. it's annoying.

hard to take picture and hold tape at same time.

I've ordered the rock auto ones. not sure if i can return my current ones without receipt probably not. but I'll see if i can. I can't measure the hub with a tape measure who knows that could be too wide for all I know.

Check your email. I sent you some instructions for Rock Auto.

The discs I have heree today are part # 0802269 which are still available from RA at $9.26 each, so if you want to order them to be absolutely certain, then use that number but the rest of the info remains the same. I will have a pair of the PRT1418 get her on Saturday if you want to wait. I will let you know if they are the same. The shipping for the 0802269 is a little bit cheaper, so it is around a break-even.

I hope this helps. Let me know you got the email.

If you ordered them from a local NAPA, they will have the record on hand and will take them back. If you did it on-line, you can log back in and print a new receipt.

Dave: I received the cheap discs I ordered earlier this week and they ARE correct and fit the hubs fine.

I hope this resolves your problems.
