Sorry, never had much success with JC Whitney. More wrong than correct parts.

I have a sump on order with SJ, Lotus were supposed to have then in by the end of April :( the last reply i got from SJ was that Lotus will have them eventually but they cant afford to pay for them at the moment :(

It would have been interesting to know if the ones on the JC site are correct and maybe a option (a expensive one though)in case Lotus don’t deliver......i had a look on the Spectra site but couldn’t find anything listed.

ah OK sorry I misread your post. The Isuzu sump would be good and may be our only route if it will work. If there is a definite part number that will work I am happy to spend some time digging around to find a supply

well it's not leaking! I will have it checked when I take it in to have front suspension lifted as I couldn't manage to do the front.

OK, so its fine as long as it doesn't leak, but could do with a replacement. I will watch this with interest. Sorry to hijack thread mildly.

I had a leak in my sump after hitting a ramp did a temporary fix about 8 weeks ago using plastic padding leak fix which worked very well, i managed to find a used sump in the uk which i have taken the dents out and painted now waiting for me to fit it, there are lots of used sump in the states i found a brakers that would send a sump to the uk the price of the sump was $30 + $80 postage then you will have to pay some handing charge to the royal mail if you are disparate may be lec members in the states can help find them for you i did try isuzu in the uk but they were no help.

It would seem we are all in the same boat needing a sump.
I would prefer a new item. Mine does not leak but does not look good either.
Could their be a group buy?

Not that I need one but if it's just a case of Lotus not having the money to purchase then maybe if there was enough people to support an order then that might overcome this issue, they would at least know they were getting the funding from those who need/want to purchase one in the here and now :poke:

I looked up the Isuzu part number for the sump and there were actually two different part numbers but part number 8970310180 supercedes the earlier number.

The number is STILL ACTIVE at Isuzu but they do not have any in the US warehouse and there are none on order for the US warehouse. They will supply on a part order basis only, that means it is no longer considered a stocking item.

The lead time is 4 to 5 weeks. The price for the sump is currently $169.50 and several dealers show a small discount. The best price I found was $136.00 plus $25.00 shipping to my address.

Shipping from my address to the UK by Parcel2Go is around $100.00 That is 3 day service, but really could be a bit longer due to Customs, etc.

Shipping by USPS Priority Mail (6 to 10 days) is $75.00 and Express Mail (3 to 5 days) is $85.00.

A group buy might be a consideration, but with a lead time of at least a month, is it really feasable? The order would need to be paid for in advance and then they would be shipped to a central location for re-shipment.

I checked and Amazon doesn't list them as well as Rock Auto. I believe Dorman has discontinued their replacement sump as I couldn't find any at any Dorman sockist in the US.

The pan from a Geo Storm is supposed to be a direct match and there are a few used ones around the US.

If anyone wants to have the details and place an order directly, send me an email and I will give you the details of who I spoke with at Isuzu dealers in the US.

Presumably a UK group buy could bring the price down and reduce the amortised shipping costs John...

Nobody I spoke with was interested in reducing their price - even with a large order. As a special order, they end up paying more for the item. The sump is fairly large so shipping is for cube, not weight. I hope you can make it happen.
