Gearbox an isuzu unit?

Hi,

Sorry if it's a daft question, is the gearbox from isuzu impulse as well? I was reading this review and read the part about the transmission problem:

Manual transmission: Difficulty shifting, especially into second gear, is caused by a worn rubber stopper on the shifter allowing it to flop from side to side, but adjusting the shifter often overcomes this. (1990-91)

which is what I've been experiencing lately. I was thinking a cable adjustment job but it seems I might have been wrong.

Transmission is Isuzu as well (but believe the gear ratios might be unique to Lotus, not sure though) but that is the first time I've heard of that particular problem. Engines and transmissions were shipped as a unit from Japan to UK, the story goes that the 800 or so in crates and an idle production line is what led to the S2.

I am getting a noise; like when you don't fully press the clutch and try to change gear; when changing to second. I would get it checked but I was surprised to see the article when I have the problem.
