Foam in Gearbox Oil

Postby Simon_P » Mon 08.04.2019, 18:22

Just been checking the Blue Car gearbox oil level.

First thing i found was that the plastic speedo drive gear is shredded where it hasn't been lined-up properly. Then noticed that the oil was foamy right up to the top. I've not come across this before anyone know what the cause may be.

I'm going to drain and refill the gearbox, because the oil will have lots of plastic bits in it, but I'm concerned about the foam.

Well I've drained it and it appears that the problem is that it was full to the top with just a few bubbles..... and I mean full!
