Outboard CV joints

Well I went ahead and got myself some of the SKF VKJP1156 boots and fitted them over the weekend.
They're around twice as thick as the knackered ones and the rubber feels flexible enough.
They fit BUT...
They're just a little over sized and don't 'stretch' over the CVs or shafts as the originals did. The metal rings supplied didn't adjust down to our CV size, but as I'm in a fix ATM two sets of strong cable ties were used instead and (fingers crossed) they appear to be doing the job.

Since then I fitted these hub side boots too, I'm very happy with the result.
The boot shape is "the same" as the original one (I bought a complete new LH driveshaft and so I can compare them easily with the one mounted on the new driveshaft) and with the eye I would say they are exactly the same, but maybe with a caliper there is a little difference indeed or the stretch is slightly different)
As for the metal clip, they fit but it's a bit on the extreme indeed. I was not pleased with the clamping and so I bought a set of metal rings too. But maybe it was just my clamping wrench that is a bad one. Theoretically the metal rings should fit, as the boot inner diameter is 22mm and our shaft diameter is 22.6mm at the clamping location (from memory)

I thought I had taken a photo of the original boot vs the SKF one, but apparently I have not. I will.

As for the inside ones, I can almost confirm they fit but they are not clamped yet so can't be 100% positive for now.

Seeings how Ron has had problems with his PNM boot after only one year
I was more than reluctant to fit the PNM boot I had previously purchased.
So I ordered a pair of boots from SJ's just to see if they were any different.
I can't give you a definitive answer because I haven't fitted the SJ's boot, and used them for a year,
but having seen Ron's photo, I know which boot I would use ?
The grease supplied with the SJ boots is from Febi Bilstein so I would suspect that is where they source the boots.

Honesty I prefer my SKF ones, maybe these ones are good, but maybe not. I prefer boots from a known manufacturer, and I got them directly from SKF (through the Amazon market place)
Now, if they are Febi Bilstein boots I guess they would be good too! (the shape looks closer to the original than the PNM ones I think)

I had bought mines from SJS a good while ago, they lasted muuuuch more than one year (maybe close to 8-10 years?) but the outer one were starting to perish a bit, hence why I decided to change them (I had to do something on the inner joints, not the outer ones. By the way the inner boots were still good too, I had to do something to the inner joint, not the inner boots.
