Front Wheel Bearing

Postby Doc Fizzix » Fri 25.08.2006, 22:15

Has anyone cross-referenced the front bearings?

Just by chance, I was removing the drive shafts in the process of removing my motor and I noticed that the left hand front wheel bearing had a ton of up and down play after the drive shaft was removed, it also sounded horrible when I was spinning it. I have removed both sides and have taken them up to my mechanic shop to have the hubs and bearings pressed out, me mechanic told me that both sides were ready to go so it was a good thing I cought it when I did. I recommend to anyone that is doing the Brian's brake upgrade to check for any play with the drive axle or the hubs. My car has about 85K so check your wheel bearings if you have the same or more miles.

I will post any info that I find on the bearing. I am sure once I get the old bearings out they will have a part number that we can use it in order to find a cross reference part.

SJs have them fairly cheaply:

SJ's bearings

Can you find a cheaper x-ref?

Candles.

I have only put 3K on the car since I bought her two years ago. She has been sitting in the garage while I have been rebuilding the new motor and all the other goodies :D
