I know we have talked about this many times but it looks like some of the threads have been dropping off and now I wanted to read through some of the old informaiton but it is gone

Well, here it goes again. What is every one using for trany oil?

Is Moble One 10/30 motor oil ok?

I wouldn't use it -- go with the RedLine -- esp if you have the LSD in there!

Redline MTL for me as well. It does make it smoother, really!

I've just developed a speedy-filler as well: A bolt, drilled hollow with the head sawn off and a plastic tube attached. This is screwed into a redundant bolt-hole in the top of the gearbox. I simply drain (I flushed with some spare oil as well) then pour 1.8L of (warm) MTL into a funnel attached to the tube. When finished, I remove the funnel, insert a bung and cable tie it next to the airbox.

I reckon I could change the oil in about 5 mins! Brilliant!

Sadly I've done it now and didn't take any pictures so any future pics would be a faked re-enactment which you lot just wouldn't be satisfied with....

Next oil change I guess!

I just changed mine, using the recommended Castrol TAF-X.
It took a bit of getting hold of, and it wasn't cheap (cost me over £30 for 2litres).
Then I used a funnel wedged between the plenum chamber and the rear of the bonnet lip, with a long piece of tube going straight down into the speedo drive hole.
Candles's method sounds a lot slicker though.

Also, I have always used a simple hand held pump that has two lines, an in line and an out line. Could not be simpler, place the in line into the oil container and the other line in the speed-o inlet and squeeze the handle, very simple, very clean, and very easy.

This was what I found when I did a bit of a search.
Perhaps you should email Quaife themselves - I wouldn't want to misguide you and wreck your box.

Just found this and thought it was important:

GL5 is a different spec, and is not 'backwards compatible' with GL4.

GL5 gear oil is a lubricant with very high extreme pressure performance needed for Hypoid gears where sliding and rolling contacts operate under very high loadings. This is achieved by incorporating high concentration of sulfurized additives. The downside to such high sulfur in oil is it tends to corrode yellow metals, so can ruin parts like brass synchronizers and some bushings. So any equipment needing GL5 performance is designed taking this limitation of the lubricant into account.

GL4 oils are much more friendly to yellow metals, and so are used in equipment where such high load sliding-rolling contacts aren't present. The designers of such equipment aren't as limited in the use of brass parts. So the bottom line is that if your equipment calls for GL4 it probably doesn't need GL5 performance, and you may be asking for trouble down the line if you use a lube it wasn't designed for.

Doc, i have no experience with oils so i just went with what was recomended of this site Redline MTL which i got from Here but as Neil quoted Castrol TAF-X should be good enough

I tried to track down the Castrol TAF-X up here from a distributor in Denver and struck out big time. Redline MTL is readily available though, even in Fort Collins. If you get into a real bind, let me know and I'll pick up a couple of extra quarts and UPS them down to you.

Have you chceked the Redline web-site? They show something like 80 retailers within 50 miles of you.

I was in contact with Quaife and they sent me a list of recomended gear lube and they are telling me to use an ATB 70/90 GL-4. I can not find any GL-4 and I have been told NOT to use GL-5.
