Unable to select a gear

Eventually had a spare couple of hours today...

Thought I'd get the car out of reverse gear so I can take her to the garage...

First problem, flat battery...

Removed the selector again, disengaged the selector dogs...

Checked the selector again, still no visible damage, seems to work perfect,

Thought what the heck and fitted another selector... (I now have Two gears that work, 1st and third...2nd and 4th don't... didn't try 5th or reverse (It might get stuck again)...

So... I'm happy I can engage and more importantly disengage some of the gears and I can move the car again...

In therory both cables are fine, when disconected they work as advertised, So I'm thinking I've snapped/broken the mounting assesembly, on top of doing in the selector...

So Saturday I'm gonna remove the complete gear system off the N/A and fit it to the SE, I reckon when it comes to removing the SE gear selection run, all will become apparent..

A bit of an update,

Fitted the N/A cables, new Gear Stick Assy, another selector (that's the third) and everything was peachy....or so it seemed..

Until I took the old girl for an MOT...

and She stuck in 5th...

I got the Arse and tw4ted the gearstick.... Doh... Snapped the cable..

Any way repaired the cable (and ordered some more...)

Put it all back together and she still sticks in fifth

This is where I need some advice please...

I have another gear box to fit if required,

But I can recall Candles saying it's possible to take the end of the gearbox off and access the fifth gear side of things

And someone else saying something comes loose in there and just needs retorquing

Can anyone give me a bit more advive on what I'm looking for...(Or a pointy picture thingy)

Anyway since she had 5 of her six gears working, I took her for an MOT... and she passed, result... One more week until she's taxed again...

Gotta a bit of tme off...

so i'm gonna change the gear cables for AB Cables (new design), the selector, the gear box and fit Daves short shift and use the new gear stick assy to it's full potential... This may in clude a clutch change...oh and port the waste gate...

all in time for Donny

I've got to the bottom of it....

Both nutz lose-ish...

On the first occasion when it happened....I guess I jammed the box

But because I was racing... I attempted a harsh gear change and bollocks the selector

On the second occurence after releaseing the gearbox out of fifth,

I did another selector in and snapped the gear change cables...

On the third occasion of resetting every thing I compared the two selectors, both identical,but unbeknown to me both U/S...(It's quite subtle too)

Then Snapped some more cables

And when I checked the spare gearbox over, the nutz were looser... but it still worked

So all in all check your nutz.... and now I'm at the bottom of things, I must get to the top as the car is in pieces

Sort shift on standby, AB cables on standby

Dave.....sorry for the ignorance....which nuts are we talking about here....the big ones on the end of the gears as per what others are finding and Gerald at GST can fix in a jiffy!?

Just wrapping up...

In addition to retorqueing the two nutz... I also changed the selector fork and the carrier, these appeared to have to much play when compared to another gearbox. The manuals do have a tolerence check, but I haven't bothered because it looked obvious...

So the car now has a gearbox that works and in addition to that... a new short shift and new gear cables...
